Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe location. Alot of abandoned buildings homeless on streets. With us arriving late in the evening and not sure of location and where to park due to streets blocked off due to some type of fair going on did not feel real safe. There was no staff on site for any direction.
The room was amazing. Large Historical Spacious well stocked with towels

United StatesParking - on a busy street out front, or a quiet street in the back across from the Post Office - wasn't a problem, just something to be aware of.
Great host - very friendly and helpful. Very nice old house well rehabbed and decorated. Clean and large room and bathroom. Short walk to a few restaurants.

United StatesThe greeting at the door got a bit nicer once we were in. Showed us to our room and it was hot and muggy, there was a A/C unit that he turned on once we were in the room, I feel he could have turned on the A/C on to make the room more comfortable at arrival. Came to our room before check out time whole 1hr 1/2 early to see if we left yet and when he came to our room he showed up in a t-shirt and boxers. When we were ready to leave could not find him anywhere had to call him on the phone to see where to put the key for the room, he just said leave it in the door of the room. There was supposed to be a continental breakfast, and all there was available was coffee, and like I said earlier, he was nowhere to be found. Very unprofessional for a business
Bed was comfortable, room was clean, but there was mold on the shower curtain. Was quite.

United StatesThe only issue we had was we didn’t know it was street cleaning. We arrived after dark and didn’t see the signs. We were met at the front door and were told to put our side view mirrors in but not about street cleaning. Had a ticket the next morning. Would assume the staff would know and tell us not to park there.
Convenient to our destination and spacious.

United StatesMy first impression of the town had me a bit concerned. The neighborhood is not as nicely maintained as the B and B, and I would not have felt comfortable walking alone at night.
Our family was in town for Knoebels Amusement Park and the location was convenient and an easy drive. The town has had better days, but the Shamokin B and B has been lovingly maintained. David met us at the door upon our arrival and introduced us to his lovely home. Our room was spacious and comfortable. And the bed was large and comfy. The property does not offer breakfast, but there is a Dunkin Donuts within easy walking distance.

United StatesWe weren’t crazy about the neighborhood.
There was no breakfast but we knew that when we booked the room, so that was not an issue. We found a nice little diner not too far away. We loved the property, a beautiful old home with a lot of great antiques inside. It had a lot of character. The owner, Dave, was a very nice guy and very personable.

United StatesSince we know the area very well, family living there, we knew that the B&B is on a busy street coming into the town. We expected the street noise- which there is- but it definitely got more quiet as the night went on. Future guests should just realize there can be street noise, but that is not the owner’s fault. And if you travel to other cities, certainly like New York City, there is plenty of noise!!!!!!
This property is an architectural gem. The rooms and bathrooms are very well supplied and very clean. The bed was comfortable. Due to our schedule, we chose not to have our breakfast there, but we did see food and coffee available.

United StatesThe owner, Mr David Hughes, was rude over the phone when I called him to request a combo to get into the house. He claimed he did not get my reservation even though I had a confirmation #. There was no breakfast provided, however, I knew that in advance.
The house was beautiful and in a good location to tour the town of Shamokin.
