How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewDear I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction regarding my recent stay at your hotel. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing and far below the expected standard of hospitality. Upon arrival, I was forced to wait more than 30 minutes for the receptionist, and only after calling the front desk was I able to receive any assistance. When I entered the room, I discovered several unacceptable issues: the air conditioning was not working, there was a strong unpleasant odor, and no towels were provided for showering. When I attempted to speak with the receptionist regarding these concerns, she was not present, and despite waiting for a considerable amount of time, I received no assistance. Later, when I returned to the room and attempted to sleep, I was shocked to find rats inside the room, creating noise and making it impossible to rest. Once again, I went to seek assistance from the receptionist, but she was not there. I called the front desk, only to be told that nothing could be done, as the receptionist was the only person available. At that point, I had no choice but to pack my bags and leave the hotel immediately. As I was leaving, the receptionist assured me that the reservation would be canceled and that I would receive a refund. However, I have not yet received any reimbursement. I kindly request that my refund be processed without any further delay. This experience was unacceptable, and I believe immediate corrective action should be taken to prevent such situations in the future. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. I look forward to your swift response and resolution.

Smelled a little musty and linens had stains and when we asked for towels would only be given one for a group of 4. Pool area wasn’t very well kept up

With no record of our reservation at Sleep Inn, we were moved to the adjacent Ramada Inn. We were locked out of our room for hours waiting for a maintenance man to open the door with a bent coat hanger. Many guests at this hotel were unable to even get into their rooms due to bad door locks. Breakfast was mediocre. Floors in the hotel had circles of colored paper (confetti) scattered about. Suggests house cleaning not very thorough.

Verified reviewThe hotel was less expensive than other hotels in the area. Our nine-year-old likes to swim, so I chose this hotel because it offered a swimming pool.
This hotel shares its swimming pool with The Rockville Hotel. Although there were supposed to be towels at the pool, there were none (despite the pool area being virtually devoid of people). I went to the front desk to inform them that there were no towels at the pool. The desk clerk told me that The Rockville Hotel was responsible for providing towels at the pool, and she contacted them on my behalf to request towels. We remained at the pool for about an hour and a half, but no towels arrived. At some point I went back to The Sleep Inn front desk and told the same woman there were still no towels and asked her for three towels. She gave me two towels and said they were the last two clean towels in the hotel. Later that evening, there was a sign at the front desk saying there were no more towels available for guests. The pool itself was full of bugs, so our daughter didn’t want to swim in it, even after my wife found a pool skimmer and got rid of some of the bugs. The carpet in the hallway on our floor looked and smelled like it was desperately in need of a deep cleaning or replacent. And the sliding door separating the main section of our hotel room from the toilet/shower didn’t slide without extreme muscle power.

Staff not friendly, didn’t communicate about how rooms needed to be cleaned, ran out of clean towels, we never got the amount of towels that were needed, no pillow cases on the beds, breakfast area not cleaned, at one point the utensils were dropped in the ground and picked back up and touched food

Verified reviewIt was close to where we needed to be and it was priced reasonably, had an included breakfast.
The pocket door to the bathroom was filthy when rolled out. There was only one towel in the room for two people. When we tried to use the phone in the room to all the front desk we realized it had no cord. The sink faucet was loose and flopping around and so was the wall fixture that held the toilet paper.

No pool, staff spoke no English. Breakfast was extremly limited compared to to other places. Side door broken and never shuts which made it unsafe. Never a staff at nite watch the doors. Microwave was in French wording.

I did not like the fact that my room was infested gnats also that the front desk person seem to have an attitude when I asked him if they had other rooms available, and I told him about the situation. I was told there were no rooms available, but when I went to book another room at the same hotel, there were several rooms available, so I was not happy about that. It was such an inconvenience because I was unable to locate another room at a different hotel at a similar price due to budget thank you to the maintenance person who came and sprayed the room and was able to kill a few of the gnats but not all. That's one problem made this a bad experience.
