How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAbsolutely nothing. Worst hotel experience of my life
The staff are soooo rude and unhelpful particularly a young dark head man called John behind the front desk and a porter called Tony. Two of the rudest people I’ve ever met. The rooms are DIRTY and nothing works properly. It’s a proper dump.

Verified reviewThe front desk staff was wonderful, especially Alicia (I believe that was her name) who checked us in on Saturday, August 16th. She was super knowledgeable and welcoming, and gave us great tips right away. I loved that bottled water was always available, along with 24/7 coffee and tea. The main floor kitchen/lounge with a TV was a really nice spot to relax, and given the location, it was a fantastic value. The area felt safe, it was in a great neighborhood, and everything was within good walking distance.
The outdoor terrace could have been a little larger, but it was still great to have that space to enjoy.

Verified reviewI liked the view from the room an that it had a balcony but I wished that the balcony was more nice and cosy, it was very raw. The staff was very nice and friendly and it was nice to get free water. Also the staff gave us a discount because the wifi wasn't working so we were pleased with that. The bed linen and towels were changed every day,
The curtains were hanging off the rail, one light was missing in the mirror, the mirror was broken, there were hairs in several places in the room so it was clearly not cleaned well enough. The sofa was not clean enough and the Wi-Fi didn’t work on our floor.

Verified reviewConvenience to subway, easy to get everywhere. Rooms were good size and clean. Provided water every morning when we left the hotel.
Full size beds...but in manhattan that's what you get if you need two beds. Honestly...there was nothing we didn't like. The hotel was wonderful.

Verified reviewVery good location. Canal and spring street subway stations are 2min walking distance away. Staff was nice and helpful and there was free water bottles in a reception which was nice gesture. Traditional american hotelroom ,great bed and great air conditioning.
For some reason hotel WiFi does not work very well. Could be my phones fault also but there was problem to find ip-address and keeping it connected.

Verified reviewLocation was amazing, reception was helpful and always asked if we needed more water, etc
Rooms very outdated and falling apart. A lot of the wallpaper had come off around edges and carpet was well for wear. The booking app was a lot higher priced than booking with hotel. Needs to update photos.

Verified reviewThe location is perfect in the southern part of Manhattan. This was the main reason as I was on a business trip. The price was reasonable, even more so for NYC standards. Airco was functioning well which was a must during the massively hot month of July. If you are a cigar smoker there is a cigar lounge walking distance from the hotel so perfect to wind down after a hectic day in New York.
Hotel is very basic, bar was closed and there were no plans to open it in the near future.

Hotel is out dated. Horrible shower. Can see mildew and wouldn’t drain well and shower head wasn’t working properly. Walls papers were ripped. Aircondition noise didn’t let us sleep.

Verified reviewVery convenient location, close to subway, coffee shops, shopping and restaurants.
We lived in a room near end of the hallway (the corner), so literally no wifi connection at all. Even tho we connected near the door side, we lost the signals in the room.

Verified reviewroom view was nice, location is alright. stuff is friendly and trying to assist with everything
1. quite outdated furniture and common zones. 2. mice in the coffee area…at some point homeless person came in asking for money within this common area, which also raises questions of security unfortunately. 3. no proper ‘hotel’ like blankets, only like a plush cover by request.

Verified reviewLocation was good
We booked this room for 2 people, me and my boyfriend. I got there before him, the room was paid for and I had made sure that the booking was in my name since I would arrive first to check-in. However we paid from my boyfriend’s credit card, as a result they did not allow me to check-in because I didn’t have the card. I really wanted to check-in and shower after a long travel so I went to get the card and came back, that’s when they said that you don’t just need the card, you also need the card owner to be present with his ID. Why that wasn’t communicated to me, I don’t understand. The reservation was in my name. I was there with my ID and the room was paid for and yet, I couldn’t go in. I also lost time getting the card for no reason. Overall, I understand that different hotels have different regulations (this has never been a problem at another hotel before) and it would have gone better if the person working there was more helpful or nicer. But he wasn’t. After my boyfriend finally arrived the guy didn’t even give us any info about our check-in, just gave us the key card. No info about WiFi, breakfast, checkout or anything. After asking another person the next day for more info I learned that they do give free water for guests, but in mini plastic bottles. They do not provide water fountains to refill them. So you just have to keep issuing mini plastic bottles and waste plastic.
