There were a couple cars in the parking lot with flat tires that look like they've not be moved for awhile. There was no coffee in the morning and the lobby closed. Business was conducted behind a glass barricade which struck me as unwelcoming.

Location was great and the primary reason I chose to stay here. The room was clean and stocked with soap and shampoo. I love these motels where you park right outside your room door which is another reason I chose Southwind Inn.

The building and rooms need a lot of upgrading, old but clean. The headboard on the bed was not attached just leaning on the wall so every time you moved on the bed it would bang against the wall. light fixtures old and dim lighting. Most of the other occupied rooms seem to be permanent residences.

The staff was helpful and accommodating and good location. Although it is built directly across from a cemetery it adds a little quirkiness.

It felt like we bothered staff. I felt bad for checking in. Then, the pool we were unsure if it was clean because it was green. There is no trash bag in the room despite the sign saying to use "one provided."

Stairs to second floor limits some to first floor. Although WiFi connection worked, the Internet access was not there. Had to use cell phone for Internet link. No cups or cooking pans and dishes so I bought what I needed at nearly, Super Walmart and took them home.

Free EV charging within walking distance, six short blocks, at Hopper Haus Bar and Grill. Dog friendly for a reasonable fee. The window AC froze the room until I turned it up a bit. Traditional oven was great for making and cooking a favorite, seafood dish.

It didn’t necessarily bother us, but it was rather a surprise when we discovered a small cemetery directly across from the property! It was of no real disturbance, but it was definitely an unexpected surprise! Additionally, the deadbolt on the top of the door did not lock from the outside only the inside. But there was not much to say negatively about this property, or stay! We recommend it for an economical and valuable stay.

We appreciated the location of the property given how close it is to South Padre Island, and how convenient the location is in proximity to the stores in Port Isabel. The inside of the room had a large fridge with a freezer, which was great for stashing our late night frozen treats and fresh cut fruit! The room was very spacious, and very clean when we arrived. We were also able to reserve a room that was facing out towards a nice space of grass land and had an ocean view.

We didn’t like the cemetery literally right across the street. My sister was so spooked she had a nightmare and we left right at day break. We didn’t wait for check out time. It was also very noisy upstairs like all night. Sounded like kids running back and forth. The curtains didn’t cover the window all the way. My sister did see a couple of small roaches but that might have be from all the rain we got while we stayed there.The ocean view is not what I expected. You have to walk about a block to get to it then it was gated so no way to get into it. And your room has to be in the back for ocean view if not you get cemetery view :(

The location to South Padre Island was very good and it was easy to find the hotel. Check in and check out process was easy.It was very clean although it is an older building. Parking spot was right in front of the room or a few spaces away. They let us check in like 2 hours early and no extra charge 🙂

It was SHABBY. Cheap everything. Bath cabinet and desk were de laminating. the towels, etc were of the lowest quality. The person who cleaned did her job but even the sheets were torn. The painter must have been drunk. It seems like the kind of place where some people live permanently. the rotating plate in the microwave was too big, therefore the microwave was unusable. Plus there were no plates or utensils in the kitchen. the frig was the smallest available and on the floor. it takes 2 or 3 shampoo packets to get enough shampoo. Parts of the ceiling were bubbling off. The rating was completely false. I uninstalled Booking.com because of this place.

only one thing, I was working on the computer via internet when checkout time rolled around. The owner came by and allowed us to stay an extra hour to finish my work online.
