How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewTerrible communication by the assistant manager Razi, and the handling of a booking that was paid twice. Arrived at hotel, to be told the booking was not paid, and that booking.com needed to provide a virtual credit card for the payment to be deducted, however it was provided, but Springhill Suites had attempted to deduct more than what was originally prepaid/booked for, hence why the payment I made was not showing. When I originally handed over my credit card on checkin, I had assumed that it was just going to be for the standard holding fee as most hotels would normally do. The front desk receptionist at the time had not discussed anything about taking out the full amount or explained what my credit card was going to be charged and just took the extra payment, although I had already paid it online. I did not even register this until afterwards and I checked my online bank account. On reflection, I should have questioned why they needed my credit card again although already having fully being paid - but after a long international travel from New Zealand plus domestic travel (almost 19 hours of travelling) and baggage not arriving from a domestic flight from Houston to Dallas (which was another issue), the “brain” was absolutely not working! Once the problem had been discovered, this is when the nightmare began in trying to get it resolved with Razi, the assistant manager. Had seen the assistant manager twice the following day to get it resolved, and he advised that he was working on it. Went to reception later that afternoon a third time to find out what the progress was, only to be told by reception that he had gone home for the day and would not be back til Wednesday, knowing that we were checking out on the Monday (2 days prior)!!!!!!!

Verified reviewNo electricity. No recompense for power outage. No breakfast. No lights. No shower. They should have refunded everyone’s money! The man at the desk in the morning was rude.
A refund - even, “I’m sorry.”

Verified reviewThe beds were comfy and the room was spacious.
I might not be a hotel connoisseur, but I know customer service and I feel like I know a thing or two about guest relations and comfort and quality. I have always been a type to stay at boutique hotels but ever since I got a Marriott Bonvoy reward's account, I wanted to try staying at more of these hotels. First off, its very noisy from the highway, that is not entirely their fault and I'm usually a normal type of sleeper, sounds don't always wake me up but I dont know what it was about this hotel but I kept waking up from every sound from the outside. Two, they don't clean your room or refresh your towels unless you stay for more than 2 days... I guess its not entirely horrible since they have a green initiative BUT if I want to refresh my towels, I had to ask three times at the front desk throughout the day and then the lady up front couldn't find them and then I had to wait till the next morning to get some. There was also a LOT of water stains in the restroom like when hard water dries up without wiping it off. It felt dirty in some sense. There was also NO conditioner and NO hand soap in my room. We drove 9 hrs to Mckinney, we were exhausted, so exhausted I just decided to deal with it the next day but I wish I had asked for another room or had energy to book somewhere else.... The restroom everyone once in a while smelled like sewer from the floor drain. Also, why do they always give me a handicap room? I'd rather someone that needs it be always available for them. I don't need it and I always make sure I am not booking that style of room.

No water pressure on 4th floor, breakfast area overflowing trash, no forks, only one toaster for entire hotel, only one waffle machine, limited muffins, tiny bagels, tiny juice glasses get the hellish picture? Shocked this was rated 9.5! Oh yeah checkout computer didn’t work!
