Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The slow check in process …the couch in 224 was visibly dirty
Miya is a great employee and deserves a bonus and raise.She was the best part of our visit. It took the late night person about 30 mins to check us in ..not sure if that was her issue or the computer she was using, but it seemed like a little bit of both.

hard to get in touch with booking .com

I couldn't stay longer...I needed a few more days😊
Came down for my Birthday staff truly amazing helpful . Breakfast bar was so good.. saved me time we ate there both mornings. The attendant was amazing too. It smelled so good in this hotel so clean and close to all the things I wanted to do.

Water dispensers were hard to find and there was no water in the room. Had to search a bit and found one in the fitness room. One design flaw is the window in the bathroom door. Cool looking but when someone gets up and turns the light on the bathroom it shines brightly in the whole room and disrupts other's sleep.
All staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel was very nice. Very close to downtown and Tobacco Row. Only bummer was all the construction around the property, but nothing the hotel can do about that.

Beds were harder than other Marriott hotels I have been to. Also the faucet in bedroom was very loose

Some warning about the construction that blocked my normal approach to the hotel would have been good. The water pressure in my sink faucet was low, but the shower was okay. The staffer managing my check in the first evening had a hard time finding my reservation. The pillows are not very comfortable, but otherwise, it's a very good property.
The location is wonderful - within minutes of my Durham offices and many great restaurants. The breakfast is very good, varied and easy to grab on the way out the door.

Daily charge for car parking was not mentioned at check in or check out. Hadn't noticed it when making the booking (not fully obvious) so additional charge without being aware was frustrating.

My only complaint is that the trundle bed was not comfortable at all. I ended up sleeping on the couch.
The room was absolutely amazing! The staff was super nice and willing to help with any questions.

For me, the roadwork affected the ingress/'egress to the hotel and felt a little unsafe. Thankfully, this is a temporary concern and beyond the control of hotel management.
Location relative to American Tobacco campus and DPAC was great.

There was construction being done on the road outside the hotel so it was a little confusing using GPS to come and go but, this was of no fault of the hotel.
I chose this hotel because it was close to my daughter’s school NCCU. I was dropping her off for the Spring semester. The location was great.. Check in was easy and I found all the employees I encountered to be friendly and helpful. My room was very spacious and clean. The bed was comfy. Breakfast was good and so everything met my expectations.
