Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe restaurant is definitely too small for the size of the hotel. It gets completely packed during breakfast, and it's hard/almost impossible to find a table available.
Comfortable and good size bedrooms for a hotel in NYC.

United KingdomThe location and the breakfast facilities. The walk to the Shirley was scary, especially after dark with a young family. It’s too far away and not the safest of areas. Once you are there, it’s all good but we genuinely felt scared and ensured we got home early.
Loved the comfort of the room, the AC and the cleanliness

United StatesThe hotel is a 10-minute walk from the major subway train station to get anywhere and close to NYC major locations. The only problem is that the 10 minute walk at night is highly sketchy and suspect, but the NYPD was located at certain spots to keep the area safe. On the weekends the breakfast area is full so be sure to go early. There is a large factory across the street. The NY noise and factory noise can be distracting but it did not effect my sleep.
This hotel exceeded my expectations. When I first arrived I saw a lot of chaos and things out of place. But over time my stay got better and better. Breakfast was good. Room was spacious. Housekeeping was responsive. Staff were wonderful. I enjoyed my experience so much that my husband and I extended our stay 2 days!

United StatesDrive 9 hours to attend a funeral and their was no parking at the valet parking when we arrived. Once the valet parking is filled up that's it. That was not told to the lady staff member that came on night shift so it wasn't communicated to me at the front desk. I don't think the Spanish lady showed any remorse of what happened. I didn't like that part at all. It was very cold in the room as we walked in. I tried putting the temperature up and it was still freezing cold in the rooms. I reserved two rooms.
Carlos the valet parker on night shift saw someone checking out and quickly gave me that spot. I was very appreciative. Thank you Carlos for your hard work and dedication.

United StatesThe front desk staff. You can tell they don't want to be there and intern make sure you feel the same way after an interaction with them. I received short, unhelpful, and rude responses anytime I addressed the front desk in person. Based on this alone I will probably not be staying here again. Who wants to pay $300+ for a room just to be treated like an issue by staff. At arrival the key cover fell off the door, the phone didn't work, nor did the bathroom door in our room. They fixed the key cover and phone but we just had to struggle with the bathroom door each time we used the restroom
Its in a good area easy to get back to the city and lots of stores around. They also have lots of vending machines in the lobby which include cold cut sandwiches. A real lifesaver when coming back late night

United StatesTV didn’t turn off and maintenance was not able to fix it. It wasn’t a big deal but I wanted some kind of acknowledgement from management or front desk and an apology from them would have been nice. Wasn’t expecting any freebies or anything but just wanted some communication. I wasn’t crazy about the location, though it is close to Manhattan.
Nice view, close to La Guardia, though taxi costed more than expected

United StatesThe neighborhood was a little sketchy and near the projects, but it didn't ruin our stay, and we never felt unsafe.
The location was decent, and Manhattan was easily accessible by the metro station down the street from the hotel (7 minutes walk). We look forward to the breakfast each morning, serving great food, decent choices, and just very organized and put together. The dining staff were very attentive and kind.
