How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

After I booked the room and paid for on line, I was informed that the property I booked my room at was no longer part of Oyo hotel anymore, so I was not allowed to check in and I was told I would be refunded and I yet to receive my money and it's been over a month now.

Drove to the place, looked very sketchy surrounded by homeless people, as a woman alone I didn’t want to go inside just by the look of it. They refused to refund me the cost of the room. Ended up sleeping in the airport for my 8 hours layover.

IP second time to get in that property to stay one night I don’t like it. It’s dirty towel is blood dry blood in bed cover sheet. Everything is dirty and hair all over.
I didn’t get into that property because the property changed the company name. It was not your hotel. It was name changed to six hotel something and then they didn’t accept us and then we pay for nothing. I’m keep calling and emailing and I’m trying to get money back, but nobody contact me yet. My phone number is 403-478-5561. Please let me know as soon as possible how I can get my money back

That it is so far impossible to talk to someone there. I sent messages and only got back automated replies, I tried calling 3 different phone numbers and kept getting transferred to the wrong place. And it was a non refundable reservation and I wasn't able to modify my dates.
Absolutely nothing. I ended up falling asleep in my car because when I went to check in the cops had the driveway blocksd.

We booked in last minute. Got there and the room had been already booked. So after paying for a uber there and back it was a total waste of time. Got a refund from booking.com

This is a fraud advertising that Booking.com is contributing too. I demanded a refund instead got billed. The hotel didn't exist. I had to rent a room from Motel 6, the staff said that the hotel was sold and Motel 6 was now the new owner. The did not honor my reservation and had to pay twice the price to stay in a roach motel full of dog feces.
No Hotel existed. I demand a refund. I was robbed. I would have had no place to sleep. This is a fraud advertising that Booking.com is contributing too.

We got to the hotel and there was no reservation waiting, they said they are not affiliated with OYO or booking .com, we had to book and pay for another hotel room so you need to reimburse me for this invoice and check your website to ensure you are not putting other people through this inconvenience.
