Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelI've booked a room with 2 beds where it was told that there is queensize bed and also one bunk bed. But there was only queensize bed with mattress underneath it. It caused some inconveniences and my colleague had to book another room. So update description of the room.
Good place to stay for one or two nights! You can easily to get to NY by bus and also some nice restaurants were located nearby. Room was big and clean. Host was really nice.

IrelandWhen I arrived, the shared bathroom was dirty. I contacted the host, but never received a response. I would suggest finding a strategy to keep the bathroom clean. Plus, I didn’t like the fact that I didn’t receive any response at all: the host should always be available in case some issues happen.
Great location: the bus stop is just a few minutes from the house. Times Square can be reached in 15 minutes. When booking, keep in mind that the New Jersey–New York trip will cost you around €4 one way. I found the room clean and the bed comfortable.

CanadaThere is a damp smell coupled with cigarette smell in the corridor; the entire house needs to be aired. The room does not have TV, there was no breakfast provided. I didn't notice ironing supplies(like iron or iron board) but I didn't ask either. Might be more my fault; I thought I booked a private bathroom but it seems like (now that I am checking my reservation again) it was a private kitchen and shared bathroom. However neither of the two was private. I shared all with 2-7 more people through out my time there.
Jimmy was quite helpful and responsive. He directed me on where to park; how to get in. When I had issue in the space, he was responsive and resolved quickly. There is a washer and dryer with supplies to allow you do your laundry. The kitchen is equipped to make quick meals. There's water filter for drinking. There's sufficient wardrobe to organize my things. The room had a lock. The house is close to HBLR station so it is quite easy to get to Manhattan. The neighborhood is quite and safe. The internet was good.

BelgiumSmall discussion in the beginning with reception regarding what needs to be paid additionnaly (access to gym etc.). We thought this was additionally above booking price, however reception forgot to tell us that only a % of the total booking price was already charged upfront. No issues thus. Booking price = Final price

United States• The room has no window and no ventilation • There’s an unpleasant smell in the room, likely why there are many air fresheners, but they don’t help much • High noise level when people use the stairs • No rules for using common areas, so other guests may make noise in the kitchen late at night • We were given only one towel for two people, and when I messaged the manager, I received no response • Only one bathroom for all rooms, so if someone has recently showered, there might not be enough hot water for you
• Nice, quiet neighborhood • Only two minutes to the bus stop for Manhattan • Clean kitchen • Common areas seem to be cleaned daily • Cozy room

BrazilThe kitchen started to get a bit dirty, but that was because of the other guests that had no sense of a shared space, not the ower's fault. Since the house is in Jersey, we had to take a bus to get to NY. This bus is not included in the Metrocard, so the week or mothly pass doesn't work and you have to pay almost 4 dollars extra to go and come back from Manhattan. But we knew that when we made the reservation and all the infos regarding the location were transparent. So, again, not the ower's or the property's fault.
Very nice bedroom and private bathroom, both clean and organized. The kitchen was well equiped and we also had access to a washing machine. They provided coffee, cereal and pasta for free. The neighborhood was quiet.

AustraliaBreakfast was only cheap cereal. We had to buy our own milk. No toast available - no bread, no spreads. No coffee, just herbal teas. Found a freshly opened bag of coffee on the last day but there was no appliance to make coffee with it, just a pod machine with no pods. The microwave oven was filthy; I left the glass turntable in the sink for cleaning, but the mother of one of the other tenants washed it and it was placed back inside the dirty oven. Very little cutlery to use. Bathroom: we assumed we could use the bathroom on the second floor where our bedroom was. This bathroom was dirty and had urine all over the toilet seat and floor which I had to clean up. The landlord never specified we should use the downstairs bathroom. This was cleaner but the bath mats in both bathrooms were filthy and never changed over the 5 days we were there. No bin in our bedroom. No TV. No soundproofing. No curtains, blinds were broken, outside lights in backyard stayed on all night and there was no switch. Co-tenants were noisy, (drinking at 2am, stomping up and down stairs at 3am), left brown phlegm in the basin of the downstairs bathroom. The 'garden' at the back was just weeds growing through the pavers and was littered with beer bottles, cans & rubbish. The hallway was dirty. Apparently there was a daily cleaner however washing was left in both the machine and dryer every day. I dried and folded a load of linen for them so we could use the machines. After the first day, I wrote six messages to Jimmy about some of the above matters and received no response until the day of checking out. No subway from NJ to Manhattan and trains were on strike. We used buses which were hit and miss. The last bus back was 10pm. This was always packed and we often had to stand. This commute added 1-2 hours to each day, so it was hardly "mins away from midtown New York". It's not an apartment, more like a shared house with some inconsiderate strangers.
Room was spacious, plenty of hanging space in wardrobe. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Use of washing machine and dryer. There was free wifi - despite the ad saying no internet was available.

AzerbaijanNoisy stairs, everytime somebody is using them, it is impossible to sleep.Thin walls, if somebody making tea, it is like next to your ear. Very good experience to read every single description after this stay.
Probably my own mistake too not to read everything in details, however, if you are looking for a place where you can comfortable rest, this is not the one. If you are looking for a hostel then it might be right place to rent.
