How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThis place was fun. It's an older motel and they really leaned into that aesthetic down to having metal keys. There was even a basket of snacks and fruit that we were encouraged to take with us. The funny thing is I never actually talked to anyone on staff. We were arriving after their check-in time so we arranged everything by email.
The bathroom design was a bit awkward but it wasn't too bad.

Verified reviewI love the retro feel, the cleanliness, the very kind and friendly person in charge, the breakfast basket, the walkability from Sunset to anywhere in Murphy, the immediate setting, the proximity to the river walk, just everything!
I liked everything. There was nothing I did not like.

Better TV channel selection.

Verified reviewI liked the room fine. My husband did have trouble sleeping with the fan noise in room 13.
Well, I liked the room and saw the open sign on, so decided to go in person and tell the manager. I rang the bell 3 times and no one came. So I left. I was disappointed that no one came to receive that compliment. I felt that if you are in the people business you should be there for them.
Thanks for the feedback. The fan can be shut off by pulling the string just like a regular fan in a house, that would have helped reduce any noise. Also, sorry we missed you stopping by the office. There is just one person on site to do housekeeping and helping other guests so sometimes it takes us a couple minutes to get up to the office. We also tried contacting you multiple times about taking our ice bucket and ice tray and were also ignored. When finally reaching you, you told us it couldn't be that expensive and seemed entitled to steal what you want and hung up on us. Most hotels would charge you quite a bit for this, we didn't and have given you the chance to mail it back. Your hostility towards others that have only shown you grace, and kindness is concerning so with that, just like your voicemail states, God bless :). Thanks, Sunset Motel

Verified reviewRoom was very clean, even the chairs outside on the porch. We got a kick out of the theme of motel - A travel back in time for us. Breakfast basket was a nice touch and much enjoyed! A welcome change of having your own parking spot over a large hotel where you have to look for a cart, if there is one available, wait for an elevator and trying to find a parking spot close to the building. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. An excellent location to walk to restaurants and shops! A quiet spot to relax at the end of the day. We have booked again for October.
I think it could be updated with handicap bars in/outside of shower. The water in shower did turn from hot to cold at times.

Weak WiFi and TV channels were limited more than I expected, some only worked the first of several days. No one on property during normal business hours, it seemed
Thanks for the feedback - we appreciate it. The room you were in is a hit or miss with the Wi-Fi sometimes, sorry about that. The TV should not have been limited channels though - we will investigate this and make sure to reprogram if necessary. The storms may have done something to mess them up. Our office hours are 3:00pm-9:00pm and then housekeeping is here from 10:00am-2:00pm. Overnight, you are able to call the office at any time. Sorry for any confusion or inconvenience.
