How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWhen you book a room for 2 people with a shared bed the bed is tiny, they say it's a full size bed but 2 people can barely fit in there. If you want a room that can actually accommodate 2 people they make you pay the room difference. They have received this complaint a lot since they have a justification sheet printed and highlighted.
The guest booked our cheapest room, which has one bed for two people, but expected five-star facilities for that price. We clearly state in our listing that it is one room with one double bed, meaning a full-size bed, not two beds. Some guests misunderstand “double” to mean “two beds,” but it actually refers to the bed size. That’s why we printed out a notice to show the guest that we have already mentioned this everywhere. The guest did not want to pay the price difference. If you want a bigger room with two beds, you must pay the difference. You argued a lot during check-in because you didn’t want to pay the extra $20 to upgrade the room type. I completely understand that your frustration comes from that, and that’s why you gave us a low rating. You didn’t have any other issues, the only problem was that you had to pay $20 to get a bigger room with two beds. It’s not the property’s fault if you chose the cheapest room. Next time, please make sure to check both the bed type and the number of people allowed before booking. If you go on vacation, please don’t argue for a couple of dollars for extra comfort. If you want a comfortable stay, be willing to pay for it, and if you really don’t want to pay extra, then stay with what you booked and paid for. If your feedback was truly honest, there would be no need to post it anonymously. We are aware that this review was posted by the two girls who visited last week.

I really enjoyed being able to step right out to the pool in the morning—just open the door and you’re there.The staff were polite and friendly.The neighbors were nice and there was no unnecessary noise.Great location, very close to the ocean.

Staff seemed mistrusting at first but by our second night they lightened up 😁 Seems like they get burned by locals quite a bit so I can't really blame them.
We have experienced multiple issues with local guests in the past, which is why many properties, including ours, have strict policies regarding local bookings. We do allow local guests only if they agree to follow all our property rules. Our property is monitored by security cameras 24/7, and our staff actively watches for any problems. If we observe any policy violations, we contact law enforcement and evict the guest with no refund. Unfortunately, because of prior incidents with some local guests, these rules apply to everyone to ensure the safety and comfort of all our visitors. Thank you for your feedback. We didn’t expect false feedback from you. We understand where your frustration is coming from, you expected everything for free. If the room was truly in such bad condition, you wouldn't have stayed for 6 nights without lodging a single complaint. This was actually your second time staying with us. If the property was really in poor shape, you wouldn’t have chosen to return and stay another 6 nights. Regarding the manager, your expectations were extremely high, and again, you were seeking free services. Our policy clearly states that we allow one parking spot per room, but you had two vehicles and expected six nights of free parking. You also requested free late check-out, wanted to fill a large ice cooler repeatedly, cook food in the room, and made many other demands. Please understand, we operate a fair and affordable property. Cooking inside the room is not allowed except for microwave use. Since we were unable to meet all of your demands, you left a low rating — which we would have accepted if it were based on honest feedback. Unfortunately, several of our policies were violated during your stay, so you will not be receiving your deposit back.

The pictures of the property fraudulently entice patrons to commit to a nonrefundable clause in the contract! The property was an absolute DUMP! Decor from the 70’s. Window unit air conditioning. Faulty plumbing fixtures! Threadbare carpeting! Musty smell from poor ventilation! I booked a 3 night stay and left AFTER 3 HOURS!

Verified reviewThe place is old and dated but efficient. There is carpet in the rooms which desperately needs an update. It's got to be 20 years old. The rooms are very spacious, the staff is nice but just be aware of the area. They do a good job of trying to maintain safety by having someone at the desk all night long
