Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. The lighting in the room. There is no overhead light which makes it hard to ser upon entering the room.
I liked having a room on the third floor and being able to see my car..

No elevator to third floor. Breakfast choices were minimal. No bathroom near the lobby/breakfast area.

It was a little noisy, children running and laughing in the hallway when we needed sleep.
We just needed one night for rest for a funeral 50 miles away. We left early did not have time for breakfast.

There were stairs. . .just 8 . . .so no rooms on one level. I am old and have bad knees which make stairs difficult.
The location was easy to locate but on a hill which was a bit strange. The young woman at the desk was friendly but she kept disppearing in the morning. I left my key card but did not get a receipt. No problem, but it appeared that she had too much to do. The room was basic but the mattress was excellent.

Towels were very thin and seemed like they have been around for awhile. Stains on a few. Was not a big deal, but the breakfast was lacking. Coffee machine work well, thou. Also, seemed like there were multiple groups doing car repairs (break jobs and tire changes) in the parking lot. Looks like this may be some type of long term stay guests.
Property was in a great location for our stay. Check in went very well. Housekeeping staff on the 3rd floor was great.

Only complaint is that we were on the ground/basement floor and the room was quite musty. This makes sense since you are right off the Lake. The dampness was a bit improved by opening a window and turning on the fan, but still noticeable and would not be good for people with allergies or are sensitive to must.
The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The location is great too - easy to find, a short walk (5-10 minutes) to amenities like restaurants, fast food, gas stations, Target and Walmart. It is right at the base of Sugar Loaf Bluff. Just up the street you can hop on the trail to hike up it and get sweeping views of the city (1.2 miles, steep up and down, in and out in 30-45 minutes hike). You are also less than a mile from Winona Lake, which has paved walk/bike paths, playground, and kayaks/paddle boards and more to rent. The room was simple, minimalist, and clean. The beds were soft and comfy. This is a motel so you will not have extra things like a coffee pot, but it met our needs just fine.

As with most hotel breakfasts, it was all carbs and so not a very good start to my day (I need protein in the morning). We passed up breakfast and went elsewhere to eat. My husband was disappointed that there were working windows but when he opened one, he got a call from the front desk asking him to shut it. My husband has some breathing issues when buildings are closed off from fresh air and so he was not as comfortable as he might have been.
This was a convenient place for us to stay as we traveled down the Big River Road. The room was quiet and comfortable and there were gas stations, restaurants, etc., very near.
