Room was quite small but that is to be expected in an old property.

Lovely old house with lots of history. Very warm welcome and information about the area.

Everything is a bit dated including the shower head in our room which looked like something I had used 20 years ago. Heater in the room was controlled by central thermostat, but was able to shut the vents and or turn it off. Breakfast was adequate, but not amazing - however I was very appreciative of it.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Loved this for a group of people traveling together.

There were just a few things, some which would be difficult to adjust. Non-locking doors was our top issue (and then the road noise). We travel to the US with passports as our main concern being lost, and then everything else. That was probably our biggest issue (the rest being suggestions or such). Foreign travellers just aren't used to people leaving doors unlocked. Next top issue would be that the road sounds are loud, even to 2 or 3 in the morning. Our room was on a side-street which helped, but not a lot, as everyone seems to enjoy loud, thumping engines these days (not the owner's fault for the drivers!). You'd really have to spend a fortune on double pained glass to dampen that, so not really an easy option. I'd recommend ear plugs the moment you go to bed. On suggestions or things to note, the bathroom could use non-slip mats and floor mats, and maybe steps, and I'm actually not knocking it. It's just a suggestion because it's a deep (and lovely) claw foot bathtub, and some might find it really difficult to get into and out of and might slip, we're fit enough and still did (though I'd still love to have that tub at home). Simple extras, really. Finally, a choice for breakfast would be a nice addition. The first morning we had French toast with banana slices and bacon, but one of us shies away from sugar (we didn't say anything and I'm sure it would have been adjusted), so didn't really fancy that. The next day eggs were being cooked but we had to leave before breakfast, unfortunately. It all smelled great. So, it's not a slight, just suggesting that a couple of choices would have made the experience a little better and provided some movement if someone doesn't really like one thing or another.

The house is really lovely, well maintained and homey. The parking is ample and there's a great place to rest in the back with a lot of chairs and tables. The bed was very comfortable and the host was very nice. There were water bottles supplied (very helpful as it was on the hot-side out and about) and tea and coffee. The breakfast nook is really a walkway on the outside that is covered in fully with glass, so you get a nice sense of space when eating. The bathroom was located outside of the room, but it's easy to get to. It was just different to an en suite, which is why it stuck out, but we had no problem with it after the first time and there's a sign on the door. It gave it flavour, really. The location is great as there are several ways to get right into Lafayette and is only 5 minutes or so to get to Vermillionville and later to the interstate when leaving. The rooms were clean and though we didn't look into the other rooms, from online, they're all different. I love that sort of thing and T'Frere's definitely delivers.

Poor breakfast. No choice was given and the time was fixed for 8:30 or nothing. It was French toast with banana, a piece of bacon to eat on its own and a few strawberries (we were asked if we wanted any). . It was good but nothing else was offered. There was butter on the table but no bread or croissant to eat with. No cereals, no eggs, cake… there was plenty of coffee but orange juice was sadly served in a plastic cup.

Pretty old house, nicely furnished and decorated.

Breakfast - From the reviews I read before booking, I expected a wonderful breakfast. Multiple reviewers mentioned that "Donna" made such an amazing breakfast, so I had high hopes. I woke early and went looking for coffee in the communal carafes. Nothing was provided for early risers. We paid extra to upgrade to the suite on the suggestion of the owner. The suite had a Keurig but I found only one Kpod and no cream/sugar were provided, so I don't think it was set up or ready for guests to use. When it came to the appointed breakfast time, we sat in the common area and waited while "Todd" finished making breakfast (and coffee). My daughter had to ask for sugar (only sugar substitutes were out). There was a carafe of orange juice but no juice glasses to use. He brought us each a plate of scrambled eggs, undercooked bacon, a piece of dry white toast (no butter), and a small croissant. Jelly and syrup were on the table, but no butter was provided. We sat there dutifully eating trying to be polite, but this was a serious disappointment. Where was the amazing breakfast everyone raved about? The reason we upgraded to the suite (for more money) was for the larger bathroom. We were going to an event and needed the space to get ready. We were assured that the suite had the most room/largest bathroom. It may have been, but of the four bulbs in the bathroom, one was burned out and the three others were all different colors and wattages. Not idea when you are trying to do makeup for an event. The location of the B&B on the corner of a busy intersection lends itself to a LOT of road noise. We thought when we moved from the front room to the suite in the back it would be better, but the house sits on a corner, so the room on the roadside was still very loud. This is not the fault of the owner, but something to note if you are a light sleeper or have a baby with you.

The location of the Bed & Breakfast was very convenient to the dinner and event we were attending. It has a lot of potential to be a nice stay with some additional attention to detail. It would not take much more effort to greet guests in the afternoon with a drink and light snack, add some bottled water to the rooms, and put out some hot coffee early in the morning for guests who are up early. This would go a long way to improving the hospitality.

The temperature in our room was 40 degrees when we arrived in the afternoon (the thermostat hadn’t been adjusted for the unusually cold weather in anticipation of our visit). It was 46 when we woke up the next day. Most mornings the breakfast area was very cold. Our first breakfast was scrambled eggs, bacon and toast served on a cold plate. The breakfast fare was quite beneath what our usual experience is with B&B’s. We had to request butter daily for toast that was provided. The last two days it was in a bowl completely melted.

Location made it easy to get around the area. Also, the fruit served for breakfast (grapes and cut up strawberries) was tasty.

I can't say I didn't like anything. Only thing that I would say about the louisiana room was the bathroom door lock was alittle hard to lock.
