The room had no air conditioning and it was extremely uncomfortable and warm to sleep. Thousands of coqui frogs cry out all night long and ear plugs don’t help much. Global warming is for real and it is easy to fit a window AC unit to make this place a gem. If you are a sensitive sleeper and need cool weather and quietness to sleep, this is not for you.

Lovely home. Shared kitchen had all the stuff we need to make simple meals. Our room had a balcony of its own. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was large and clean. Hostess is very friendly and responsive.

Outstanding property with impeccable cleanliness and superior comfort. Room equipped with SPA-level amenities (face masks, makeup accessories, bathrobes). Spacious private terrace fully equipped: table, chairs, hammock, plus mosquito spray and decorative mosquito coil - they thought of everything! Large, well-stocked common areas, very relaxing yoga space. Quick check-in, excellent location in quiet neighborhood. There is absolutely nothing to dislike! I drove around Big Island for 2 weeks, and stayed at 4 places before The Bamboo House - when I got here I realised I had been camping out!

The Bamboo House is absolutely stunning, and so relaxing. Not only do you have a beautiful room (with walk-in wardrobe, lovely bathroom) and a private balcony, you also have full (shared) use of downstairs areas to relax in - a lounge, huge kitchen, and an amazing outdoor space that is unreal. I just couldn’t believe how beautiful The Bamboo House is. I really wished I had booked longer!

Some small little bugs were in my bathroom, but the nature of the area and screen doors would make that hard to completely eradicate I think. Sergio kindly sprayed the area once I alerted him to the situation and all was well.

Sergio was a wonderful host-he was personable, kind, and gave me some great recommendations. The kitchen and beachwear accessories were a great bonus. My favorite was probably the outdoor patios and beds overlooking the backyard filled with birds. I really loved it all though!

Everything was great, no complaints at all! The only downside was that, due to our limited time and schedule, we couldn’t stay longer.

We chose this place for our first night on the Hawaiian Islands. It’s about a 20-30 minute drive from the airport. The popular restaurants are also within a 2-3 mile drive, so it’s a great location! The surrounding neighborhood is very quiet. The overall service and room were very thoughtful. The check-in process was simple and clear, with insect-repelling scents and sprays, a small nightlight in the bathroom, a guestbook by the door, and even face masks available! There’s also a steam iron and regular iron to choose from. We only realized after leaving that there was no TV, which fits perfectly with the bamboo and zen concept.

Our host was amazing and welcomed us into his home. I really liked the personal touch. The space looks exactly like the photos. The amenities were expertly organized, and the home was well stocked. We would stay again next time we visit the big island. I wish we could have stayed longer. The host helped us solve some troubles we had with out rental car. We're grateful and appreciative of the Aloha.

Bamboo House was easily one of the top three stays ever, in my life. I've visited every continent (except South America), and stayed in hotels, B&Bs, whatever, and I've never seen the level of attention to detail and pleasant environment as BH. The host, Sergio, was just the right level of friendly and helpful, without being overbearing. He's a very nice and kind person, and you can see his impact on the property. I will definitely go back, both to experience the property again, and to see Sergio :-)
