    Solid place for the money

Water tasted and smelled like sulfur / rotten eggs. While the place is good for the money, it is the type of place with single ply toilet paper and rough bath towels. Wifi signal was basically non-existent. Breakfast was basically some coffee, bagels, and muffins from the grocery store... better than nothing, but I am also the kind of person that does not really care for hotel breakfasts and would rather explore local cafes/restaurants.

Nice, cozy, and classy place. Host was very friendly. Check in was very easy (just pick up your key from the office... no one was there). Comfy room and bed.

We were a little disappointed that there is no longer a restaurant or bar on premises which would have enabled us to meet and mingle with other guests. Television service was not available during our stay but we could well do without for a day or two. And while we appreciate efforts to minimize waste there was no hand soap in the room. (Fortunately we had brought our own).

For our purposes the location was ideal as we had planned to attend the 4th of July fireworks in Cairo. The hotel is charming with an interesting history. Each room has a different decor and while very basic has everything one needs. Located on a back road and with a lake behind the hotel the vibe is peaceful and serene. Breakfast was simple but did offer a variety of fresh fruit and the coffee was very good. We enjoyed our morning meal and a bit of reading on the wrap around porch which was delightful.

Seemed to have missed the 'free' breakfast.

Very quirky establishment straight out of The Shining. Must have been a gem in its heyday and the pictures on the walls and misc. bric a brac was charming. It was odd to us that the staff left around 2pm and we were simply left a key on the front desk but that was no bother. Wifi was good. Free bottled water as tap water was from nearby sulfurous well. Great to sit on the porch with a cocktail and a cheese plate.

Strange that all the cutlery and dishes are disposable Not very eco-positive, and more expensive than washing the dishes? Building was very poorly renovated 50 years ago, and not touched since Very small rooms, small bathroom

It’s hard to give a fair hospitality rating it as it seems like the hotel wasn’t taking other guests at this time (we were the only ones), but we appreciated that the manager accommodated us for a very last minute booking.

The property is beautiful and historic!

Reservation said "breakfast included". However "breakfast" is a voucher of $7.50 per person to spend at a local restaurant which does not even cover the price of a cup of coffee and a small pastry.

The only cons that we found were the taste of water is extremely strange not sure why ( we forgot to ask) The hotel is an old building so no lift you need to carry your luggage

We booked this hotel despite so many recent negative reviews thinking ours will just be a one night stay how bad can it get…we took a risk since we had 2 toddlers and one infant with us….surprisingly all went extremely well…the hotel staff were very cordial and polite…free breakfast had a lot of good options…rooms were clean though the tv was not working but we were aware of it while booking so we dint care…they had board games for kids so the kids could have screen free time actually…..all in all we liked it and specially it was the cheapest hotel we found and luckily the hotel did not disappoint us.by the way the back side of the hotel has a lake with an amazing fall view which is an extreme plus.

The rooms need some updating. But you can survive without them. All was functional.

This property is a beautiful old hotel. Upon entering I felt like I was in Germany in 1900’s. Personally I love that. The host was very friendly. The room was clean. The bathroom needs some updating. They have wonderful fire pits to sit around. A nice experience for one night.

I didn't like the fact that there was no night staff. The whole building needs updating. Lighting, sprinkler system, door locks, etc. For folks who like historical Inns, this one has lots of memorabilia on the walls which is fun to read.

The staff that greeted us was very sweet and helpful. The breakfast was good with fresh fruit and nice muffins. The outside porch is a wonderful place to enjoy the grounds and singing birds. The beds were very comfortable.

There was a paper at check-in with our key, rather than a person. However, I walked into the bar and all of my questions were answered. The hallway to our room was very dark but Hannah came up and brought a lamp to the outside of our room. The bathroom water had a rotten egg smell, Hannah mentioned it could be from the Sulphur in the water. We could not get WIFI in our room. The owners were aware and working on fixing those issues.

The building, the room was very clean, the staff was wonderful, the dinner was amazing!!! I enjoyed the setting. It was easy to find and close to the interstate we were taking.

Description indicated there was a lake with fishing. Paths around the property. Those we were counting on. But that area needs attention, especially the sewage smell.

The veranda was great, roomy and relaxing, a draw to relaxing outside. The dinners were delicious.

The place needs a lot of TLC. We have stayed in older inns than this that were in much better condition. Even down to just tidying up, looking out our window, the adjacent roof had a debris on it like two old rusty window screens just lying around. Would have been nice to know the history of the place as well. The gentleman who checked us in was nice enough but seemed very busy. So not a lot of time spent at the desk on check in and we never saw anyone again except for the waitress in the dining room the next morning for breakfast who was very nice. Not sure we’d go back.

Great old house. Love the layout and the design. Our room was a very large.
