Conveniently located on the Texas Wine Trail. Quiet, thoughtfully appointed rooms with comfortable beds and organic linens, organic skins are products and soft bath robes. Lovely pool and hot tub area. FAmily owners and staff are delightful and oven-fired pizza at the 290 Wine Castle is delicious!

The location was convenient to the wineries on the 290 wine trail. The room and bathroom were very spacious and stylish. The hotel provides lots of great amenities in the room like snacks, toiletries, ice in the fridge and a gorgeous pool area with a bar. The owners were very friendly & quick to respond.

This hotel is beautiful! My husband and I stayed during December for our anniversary so, of course, it was too cold to use the pool. We definitely want to come back when it’s warm! I loved being able to overlook the pool and the Wine Castle from the balcony! All of the touches in the room felt very personal and well thought out. The shower….omg….amazing. The velvet chair. The party tray (as referred to in my house) with the cute bottle opener. The coffee options. The lavender soaps. The super soft robes and slippers in the armoire. I mean NO detail was spared. Highly recommend a stay here if you’re visiting the Hill Country. Absolutely beautiful!

When I entered my room it was welcoming and calming. There was Christmas music on and the room was the perfect temperature for me. I was truly able to relax after a stressful day in a comfortable bed. I didn't want to leave.

No elevator. Only way to get to upstairs room was up narrow (3’ wide) spiral staircase! Had to lug our luggage up stairs one piece at a time. Handrails were black and hot to touch so no help there. Blue light on AC never goes out illuminating room all night long. Needed mask to block out light to sleep. AC blew over bed all night. Vent would not adjust. Absolutely no privacy in bathroom. Door to bathroom was clear glass. Might as well not even had a door!

Was quiet. Pool area nice. Room was decorated nicely but not comfortable to sit in. Bed was comfortable if you could sleep with AC blowing on you all night.

There’s no one available if you have a problem. The phone # given was not answered, our text message got no response. We had no washcloths & the TV may or may not work. The entrance, off the busy Hwy 290, is hard to see at night. Needs some lighting there. Their intentions are good & I’m sure they will work through the management issues, but for the price, we weren’t totally pleased with this stay.

The property is very nice. Eclectic furnishings, comfortable bed, outstanding pool area.

The upcharge for cleaning the room rankled. When we asked for the final charge when checking in, we discovered on leaving the upcharge. I think it was mentioned somewhere in the material, but we think folks willing to pay $286 would be comfortable paying $300 and have the cleaning charge included. Just didn't feel good. One other thing: for people our age the spiral staircase with a suitcase in tow would not be a good thing. Yes, you advised that there was no elevator. Well, I can go up a flight of stairs quite easily, but the spiral staircase? We were very happy we were on the ground floor.

We didn't have water for a period of time on both nights of our stay. The first night we were able to reach someone and it was fixed immediately. The second night no one responded for over 2 hours and the water wasn't on until almost 11 pm- couldn't shower, brush teeth, flush toilet- not pleasant. The hotel staff is not on the hotel site so were not always available. The room A/C unit was difficult to operate and took almost 20 minutes to begin blowing warm air. The Keurig coffee maker didn't stop dispensing coffee a few times and spilled over the cup.

The view from our room was beautiful. The bed was extremely comfortable - great mattress, nice linens. The size of the room was quite nice and was spotless. The pool area is lovely. The managers, Monique and Mike, were friendly and helpful but not always available.
