How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAs a place to relax in beautiful gardens with views of water and Mt. Baker it was terrific. We did not pay for a sumptuous breakfast but got a pastry which we added to what was ain the room. Just fine.
What was not to like? We did have to drive 20-25 minutes to Anacortes for dinner but Anacortes is fun and has good places to eat. Didn't try Oak Harbor, not as snazzy a town.

Verified reviewThe Bluff had everything...peace, tranquility, quiet, birds singing, beautiful sunrise, ocean view, amazing fresh baked goodie to start the day. Well appointed, very comfortable room with the sitting area looking out at the ocean, it had plenty of space for the three of us. The quality of the supplies provided from the robes and slippers to the toilet paper was top notch!!
Had a hard time figuring out how to plug in the cord for the kettle and toaster as the cords were too short to reach the outlet. A little ingenuity and away we went. Mentioned it to the host so I'm sure it will be easily handled for the next guests.

Verified reviewThis was an introverts dream B&B. I only saw the host twice and only very briefly during the entire stay. We stayed in the Salish room, and while we did not book the "suite", the room had an AMAZING view from the room (from the bed, main room, private deck, etc). It was quite conveniently located on the island and SO nice!! Heated floors in the (very nice) bathroom, remote-controlled propane fireplace, hot tub right outside and stocked kitchenette. I've always avoided B&B"s because of the "personalized" and extroverted services that hosts of B&Bs seem to adhere too. BUT here all communications I had were through text or the app. They asked for basic plans but weren't pushy or nosy. The room hosted binoculars to view the bay (also available on the bluff), woolen blankets for the chilly nights or days relaxing about the property, umbrellas for damp days, and various informational booklets and brochures to acclimate you to the island enjoyments. My name welcomed me to my room via chalkboard We enjoyed an amazing breakfast by them that I'm still bragging about. I honestly cannot wait to visit again. Introverted I may be, it's apparent the hosts were not adverse to the personalized experience. While in our stay, another couple arrived (to the 2 room B&B) and were provided a full tour (noticed while in our booked hot-tub hour; yes again, hot-tub was present). The grounds were welcoming and BEAUTIFUL! The views of the bay, the gardens, and prospect of the home were all elegantly situated for a gorgeous experience. We enjoyed 1 full breakfast with them and it was top-notch. The presentation, taste, and delivery left nothing to be desired. And the baked complimentary pastries we SO good. Truly, this was an experience to enjoy.
I only have ONE complaint. One of their chickens (feathered-feet) on the property has severely under-maintainenced talons. Her toes literally turn out due to extremely long talons which can easily be remedied with trimming or alternated perches (we have cinderblocks which helped the talon wear). They only had a tire for dust baths, which is completely fine, but confined chickens need enrichment and roosting options. The chicken in question was likely an olive egger or Blue Gem, (grey and wary) so really easy to spot. None of the other 10 were bad, but 1or 2 needed talon care. I understand the need to confine the chickens to reduce the chance of predation by arial threats. As a chicken farmer, I struggled with the chicken care.

Verified reviewWe stayed here for our wedding anniversary (weekend trip). The view was beautiful, there’s a large window in the room that we enjoyed every morning while eating homemade pastries made by the staff. The staff was very kind and communication was great. The room was cozy, they had a balloon for us and a small complimentary bottle of wine. The hot tub was relaxing, we enjoyed our stay :)
I was hoping it would be a little more quiet, but there was a dog upstairs we could hear at night and a loud chicken. The hammock was broken as well, which I was looking forward to.

Verified reviewThis small bed and breakfast is in a beautiful location, the view from the room is outstanding. The room has everything you need, is very well equipped and pleasantly decorated. It is very quiet and the garden facing the room is lovely. We also got every morning a couple of delicious fresh made pastries which changed daily! The jacuzzi was also excellent.
I liked everything!

Verified reviewThe property was beautiful, the space restful. The homemade pastries each morning were amazing! Very close to Deception Pass and close enough to town to make a quick trip in to grab dinner.
If you’re a light sleeper, you may want to bring ear plugs because of the chickens (no rooster.) With ear plugs it was fine.

Verified reviewMy week’s stay at the Bluff on Whidbey was amazing in every way. Robin and Jim were wonderful hosts who made sure that every detail was perfect. The location on the bluff overlooking the water, with Mt Baker in the background, made for some gorgeous pictures. I spent several hours there each day, soaking in the beauty and peacefulness. The location was also perfect because it was close to other scenic spots I wanted to explore….La Conner, Anacortes, Deception Pass Bridge, Oak Harbor and Coupeville. I had the upper half of the house, the Cicero Room, so it had a great balcony that overlooked the amazing garden and the water. Every amenity I might’ve needed was provided, the bed extremely comfortable and a homemade pastry delivered to my door each morning. I couldn’t have been happier or more relaxed!

Verified reviewThis is a beautiful BnB! It has a gorgeous view of the water, beautiful gardens, is peaceful, private, and even has a lovely hot tub! We really enjoyed our stay. We ordered their hot breakfast for both mornings, which was absolutely delicious and just what we needed. They delivered it to our room and included a wonderful mango smoothie. We were recovering from the passing of my sister and her husband and it was exactly the beautiful, peaceful place we needed. Thank you so much for creating such a lovely space to share.
