Our yurt number 1 was right next to the road and we could hear cars driving past all night, woke up a few times. The other yurts seemed further away from the road and may of been more quiet

Amazing room service, great set up and very comfortable. We loved the experiences the property offered

A beautiful stay but expensive and slightly misleading with facilities on offer.

    • Guard Tower
    • Stayed 1 night

We felt misled by the original listing. I chose the Guard House as it had a bathroom/shower in the listing. It isn't until you get your welcome email you find instructions to the separate and shared toilet. There was only one male and one female cubicle for the whole place, given the number of separate rooms on offer you could be sharing with up to 20+ people at any given time. This is now listed as a 'shared bathroom and shower' further down in the listing but it is very misleading, I don't remember seeing this when I booked. I will say the toilets were really clean, but I wish there were more dotted across the site. We don't mind shared facilities, but we thought we'd have our own bathroom as that's what was advertised for this particular room at the time. The welcome email had no info on where to shower, and this is also outside which we didn't know about. I genuinely thought this would be in our guard tower - again not made clear at all in the original listing. There is only one shower cubicle and it is completely open air. The shower cubicle is also very close to a shipping container room so it felt a bit weird showering so close to someone's private room. I also want to address the cost. We paid a good £260 for one night in the guard tower. It is absolutely unique but after staying here it isn't worth the cost for me, especially considering the shared toilet and outside shower. We also had to pay for firewood, it would have been great if this was included (or at least the first bundle). Another thing to note is the pool is a mere 50cm deep and is a small round circle, it is more a paddling pool which again we felt was misleading as the listing says swimming pool There were deck chairs to sit on so you can relax which is something. Overall we enjoyed our stay but they really need to update their listing to accurately show what is on offer at the time of booking.

The place is really stunning and very lovely to the eye and for photos. We stayed in one of the Guard houses which was quite impressive, clean and the bed was comfortable. I found the staff member on the chat function on booking.com very helpful, I had quite a lot of questions which needed answered and they were quick to respond. Given the property is quite remote we were pleased to see a room service menu, though, it would have been great if there was more info on how to order and pay. They offer a number to text your order but it doesn't explain how long it will take or how you pay. Turns out cash or card payment via an online link which was nice and easy. We loved the fire pit outside the property and it was amazing to sit and star-gaze. The room was decorated to a nice standard and overall the place is visually very impressive.

The pool does not really exist, it’s a 2m in diameter 50cm deep water ‘bath’ that one can’t swim in. The venue offers a lot of services, but all of them cost extra (e.g., 30$ to watch a movie, $20 to light the sauna, etc.). For the amount that you are paying it feels really off to have to pay so much extra for everything. The bed in the container home is really uncomfortable, for paying $270 per night I would have expected a bed and not a make shift couch.

Staff was super helpful, and responded to queries within minutes. Overall vibe of the place is nice

The communal outdoor shower was very close to someone's cabin room and there was only one shower. It made me feel like we were intruding on their stay when going for a morning shower. It would be great if there was one electricity plug in the yurt.

Comfy bed and good quality yurt with very good heater for when the nights get cold. Nice fire pit for each yurt and the location was perfect for those exploring Joshua Tree who want access to restraunts and supermarkets.

A good lesson in reading reviews before you go! We didn’t read enough! The ‘pool’ was what I would call a cold dirty paddling pool. There was one toilet per gender for the whole site. Surprised to have outside showers only, these are probably great in the summer but at less that 10degrees outside it wasn’t an option really. Had to purchase everything as an add on: heater for the tent, water, coffee, fire for the fire pit, (most places we’ve stayed give you one bundle included and you pay for any additional which I think is fair at over £150 for a night). Would have appreciated some side tables or somewhere you could put things other than the floor or bed. It ended up feeling very expensive for a yurt with a bed, a cot and a bin in it! The host doesn’t have a phone which accepts international calls or messages, yet the only way of contacting them was by phone. So messages went unreplied to and we learnt eventually that they would turn up at the tent within the hour! I’d suggest the hosts try downloading WhatsApp for international visitors.

The location and experience were great. Very friendly and accommodating hosts. Star gazing was fabulous. Facilities were clean (apart from the ‘pool’).

Didn’t know that the booking was for a tent. It wasn’t clear when booked and was non refundable after booking. Also was pricey for weekend rate for a tent - $540 for two nights plus $51 for heater so just under $600 (I was surprised it didn’t include heat) as the night time temperature was 33 - 42 degrees fahrenheit. The heater turned off by itself and wouldn’t go back on the 2nd night. It was cold even when the heater was working but it definitely helped. Didn’t sleep much because we were a bit cold but that’s not the fault of the place or staff. There are only 4 indoor units on the property, so the rest are stays in yurts. And if it’s cold at night, I think it would be good to be transparent so that guests know it’s a tent and can be cold even with heat. Unfortunately it was the most uncomfortable stay, and the yurts were very basic (at least ours was). I felt it was way too expensive for a tent. Would have been much happier if it was an indoor stay and warm with heating.

The staff was amazing. Very helpful and responsive. Very clean property. Gorgeous landscaping.

I found it kinda ridiculous that there was a fridge with some flavored Vodka Soda but no bottles or pitcher of water. I ended up pouring the water for the espresso machine into a cup to drink that, which felt a little gross. There was some large recreation room that was locked with no clear information on what it was for, how we were supposed to get in, or if we were even supposed to be able to use it. Not having any staff there made it kinda hard to figure these things out. It did not present a problem for me as I was only there one night, but I could imagine it being an issue for others. The only bathrooms are in a trailer a short walk away, which is fine - and the only solution given the size of the towers - but this was not very clear in the listing. Again, not a big issue for me but I think it could be for others who are not as easily able to walk to a bathroom at night. Still: I still enjoyed it, I'd even stay there again but only if I was sure it was what I was looking for. I don't think this place is for everyone and that's was not super clear from the get-go. Also please provide water in the fridges. Everything else I can understand but I can't imagine why there is not a pitcher of water in the fridge since there's no sink to get water from.

Cool and unique accommodation, good location, cute chickens. It's an interesting place! Loved the view from atop the Guard Tower and will keep it in mind for a future visit! The host was very responsive when I realized last minute the automated Booking.com system never sent me the info to get in, and they sent it to me soon after. That was much appreciated.

The Yurt had a propane heating that ran out the second night, transforming it in a very cold night. The shower is outside, and when it is cold it is definitely not the most confortable place to have a shower, luckily we also had the house. Also in the house, the temperature could not be controlled and during the night was dropping considerably. In the house, we could not find linen for the sofa bed in the living room, but I did not ask the staff, so this is mainly my fault.

I booked both a Yurt and the House. The place is amazing! Very well maintained and designed. Very nice decorations and perfect for a Joshua Tree Trip with a group of friends or a larger family. It is very easy to reach and pretty close to grocery stores and restaurants. Although, it is very relaxing, faslr from noises and with an amazing sky view. The house is very comfortable, and everything was provided, including very good toiletries and towels, kitchen tools, coffee and all the needed.

1 toilet for whole site. No showers, no info when booking as to what was included or not included, what was different between a 77 dollar tent and a 152 dollar tent. Expected some cooking utensils and plates etc. The pool is more like a hot tub in the ground. The showers were not finished being built.
