Creaky floors.

I liked everything. The property is amazing. It is like staying in my grandmother's house. The furniture, paintings, fixtures, and plates are a flash to my childhood. I am 60. There were treats in the pantry. Chocolate on the dresser. coffee ready to brew, The gentleman downstairs (owners father) was so polite and helpful. I truly cannot say enough positive about this stay.

We could hear conversations from the people living below - almost as if they were right in the same room as us. It's likely just something you should expect when staying in such an old home, but we felt a little awkward b/c if we could hear them, I'm sure they could hear us talking, too. That part just didn't feel very private. This was the ONLY negative I'd say about the property - more just something to be aware of.

The home was beautifully decorated. It was very cozy, and we enjoyed all the little touches from the actual furniture and decor to match the age of the house to the bedding to the candies and snacks left for us. The home was also very clean, which was great.

The stairs to get up to it - so many stairs, from the street up to the house, and then up to the second floor. And only street parking. But there’s really nothing that could be done in either case - that’s just how the house is situated.

It was amazingly beautiful! Like a home you’d pay to tour but can only peer in many of the rooms because they’re roped off! So much care and thought has obviously gone into decorating this gem. Just look at the photos - there aren’t sufficient words to describe it. And the bed was so comfortable, too! We even did a late check-out so we could have the luxury of sleeping in!

The exterior & interior steep stairs made it some what difficult to carry up luggage. Tiny bathroom.

my husband has a bad knee and sometimes has a hard time breathing, so the stairs were kind of tough for him, but he sent me pictures of them. He said they were beautiful though.

my husband and 2 grandsons went and my husband liked how quaint and comfortable it was. the boys loved the bed.

I know you can't help it, but the steep stairs outside! They also were not even so we just took our time going up and down them. And only street parking, along a street that has a decent slope to it.

Beautiful home. As advertised, upper-level apartment. Appreciated not having to strip the bedding off at the end of our stay or really any other 'closing' activities. Owners/ managers were easy to get a hold of. No real issues with the stay.

The toilet needs to be secured to the floor as when you sit down it wobbles some. Otherwise everything was fine!

This is a Victorian duplex with all original flooring, fixtures and decorated to match. The owners take very good care of their property. I loved the convenience to several things nearby in heart of beautiful historic St. Joseph. Auto lock doors were helpful so I didn’t have extra keys to carry. Street parking only, it worked out nicely as you walk down the cement steps from the front door right to the sidewalk and park there. There were even snacks if you wanted.

The only fault (which is completely out of anyones control) is the steps to and from the street. It’s just the way the property is situated it it was no problem at all!

The preservation and restoration of this classic home! No modern updates (except HVAC) makes this a wonderful time capsule

Parking and stairs are steep and may be difficult for some travelers.

No formal breakfast, but our host supplied coffee, creamer, breakfast snacks, oatmeal, etc. A fully stocked well-supplied kitchen and beautiful dishes, glasses, silverware, etc are provided.
