Excellent location and views. Plan on staying on the property for at least a day for the daily activities.

Very minor….not the most convenient location for visiting downtown Asheville. Restaurants book up fast.

    The spa is incredible.

We stayed in the historic hotel section and could hear the room next door.

We were lucky enough to get a room with a mountain view. It was magnificent and the window even opened! The entire place has a Wow factor. I had been here before and upon returning, it was even better than I remembered. It is a one of a kind experience.

    Everything was great!

The spa was amazing! The staff were kind and helpful. The view was fabulous.

Unfortunately, we did not get much sleep during our stay because the walls were so thin. We had a great room, but there was a young child next door whining and crying during our entire stay. The adults were loud too. We could hear everything they were saying through the walls. We did call the front desk twice, but the noise continued throughout our stay. The facilities were also surprisingly dated. We were in the Sammons wing, and it needs some updating (insulation from noise, loud ac units, can hear noise in the halls, etc.). This hotel used to have a sweet and peaceful setting. You could relax by the fire in near silence. We found it to be very corporate with loud tourists now.

Beautiful property! We had about 35 family members staying and there is plenty of space to gather in groups comfortably.

The one con that several people noted is the lack of decent lighting in the rooms. No overhead lighting. Good luck doing your makeup even with the little makeup mirror they provide! But the rooms were otherwise very comfortable.

The views were breathtaking from this hotel. Everything was clean and impeccably decorated. We loved the history and decor of this hotel. It was easy to access downtown Asheville from here as well.

Our bed was very firm. Additionally, there were extra fees for pretty much everything including $30 a night just to park. A day pass to the spa was $240 per person! I don't mind spending for the beautiful ambience but that felt excessive. Additionally, we were disappointed with the lack of lounge areas outside. If you were eating or having bar service, there were typically open tables but no chaise lounges to just relax, read, and enjoy the view.

    Spa was very good

Crowded, noisy, poor value for cost, minimal amenities; expected much more for the price
