I do not have anything that I disliked about the boutique hotel.

We were skeptical of the location because we were focused on South Padre Island. But to our surprise, we were very pleased with the location, the ice cream parlor, the room, the cleanliness, the freshness, the parking, and everything. We would definitely recommend this place to our family and friends.

For a room with two queen beds, there was only 1 hand towel and 1 water glass. Too bad there wasn't a plug-in for electronics at the desk. You can never have too many plug-ins!

Parking is limited due to the attractions and restaurants nearby.

We arrived later in the night and had access with a code. The room was super clean we can smell it upon opening the room door. From the room to the lobby we loved the environment theres also restaurants, shops and a pier in walking distance, we will definitely be booking here every time we visit.

This was very clean. The mini splitter a/c unit was cold. Large flat screen with cable, ask for the wifi password to get good cell phone signal. Perfect location next to restaurants and antique stores. The historical light house is across the street. We had the downstairs suite, which was in back of the store. Large shower, plenty of light, mini fridge, and a large walkin closet.. Be sure to visit the establishment, I highly recommend the ice cream. We will definitely use this location again.

I didn't like the fact that our room did not get clean on our second day there. We left at 7:30 am. And returned at 1:30 pm. And the room had not been cleaned. Cleaners mentioned they had alot of work. I guess they were behind. Also the trash in the back location is not very friendly ro sit outside and walk by every time you leave and come back to the room. Trash buns really have to be relocated or adjust. The smell is just not very inviting. Door to room,closet room eight are pretty hard to open and close. May need some maintenance/adjustments.

The water pressure could have been better and the light coming in around the door at night was a bit much but again those things are minimal and we will definitely stay here again.

What I didn't like is that booking.com made a mistake on my reservation, causing me to be charged twice for the room yet two different prices, even though the owner refunded me for the booking.com's mistake it was two different price charges, $147 and $133 yet he decided to charge me the higher rate, which I found to be petty, and for $13 they lost out on our business to rent they're venue for a future planned event. It's unfortunate because peoples small actions of greed, for example charging $13 more, caused them to lose out on a customer who would have paid for a major event, probably in the cost region of 5 to $7,000.

What I liked was the location, for a nightly stroll, unfortunately the bar at the pier was closed for renovations.

1. Wifi was excellent until the second day of my 2 rooms 2 nights stay. Then an interruption occurred. When wifi became available again my iOS (generally not prone to malware), contracted 1 which required almost an hour to clean. This is a one off, and things happen…so while it is serious for some people, it wasn’t a super big deal for me. 2. After hours access: my party of 2, along with another party of 2, (3 of 7 total rooms) could not get out of the front door to view the rocket launch. Then my party of two could not enter through the back door after viewing the rocket launch, until another guest showed up while I was on the phone with Ana, and this person forced the stuck back door open. This is something the management has full control over, and can fix, for example, with a proximity code key system. Lastly, at least 3 teens came upstairs to eat their ice cream bought from the restaurant on the ground floor during my 2 nights’ stay.

Everything is excellent as other travelers described. Warm, bright, welcoming modern decor, modern furnishings, big bright TVs, comfy beds, upscale linen down to toilet paper, etc. Great location with proximity to all that Port Isabel has to offer, including numerous restaurants that served fresh, wholesome foods that didn’t leave me thirsty for hours afterwards. The hotel is set off the main road a bit so it is very quiet. Even though sound proofing between rooms was light, fellow guests were quiet and cordial during my stay. Gustavo is to be commended with an eye for details and for his well trained staff. It was possible to communicate with his Spanish only staff members since they were augmented by attentive English speaking staff. And his staff clearly respect him…this really showed in how well they took care of the property, and the customers when he wasn’t around. I would have maxed out the ratings to the right except for 2 items detailed below. Both are potentially serious issues.

Internet went in and out a couple of times. No one’s fault but the internet people I guess.

Everything! Staff was very friendly. My son always looks forward to digging for toys in the toy bin…even when we’re not staying there. Everything is always clean and well kept. Like the boutique and restaurant at the bottom! A charcuterie board and wine hour would be a great addition! Also, adding string lights attached to posts (or something elevated) in the deck in the back would be a nice addition!

We drove down from Houston for a weekend wedding in McAllen and decided to stop by the beach first. After reading a lot of negative reviews about hotels on South Padre Island—mostly complaints about cleanliness and outdated facilities—we looked for alternatives and found this gem in Port Isabel. We really liked our room—everything was super clean and well-maintained, making for a very comfortable stay. The building has charm, and the rooms are even nicer than the photos. The location is perfect: just across the bridge from South Padre Island, and there’s a wide variety of restaurants and tourist spots within a 10-minute walk. It’s also reasonably priced—definitely worth it in terms of quality and experience, especially compared to how expensive South Padre can get. There’s a beautiful coffee shop on the first floor, which was a great bonus. And the cherry on top? You’re right in front of the historic lighthouse, and we woke up to little birds singing outside our window. I’d absolutely stay here again next time I’m in the area.
