Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaWould have preferred a room with a view.
The location on the Upper West Side was great. The doormen were fantastic, they always had a smile on their face and were willing to help. .The bed was small (double) and the room looked onto an interior part of the block, just seeing other sides of the building, but it was quiet!

FinlandThe hotel was a little pricey even though the breakfast wasn't included.
The hotel location is 5 stars! Many great restaurants, cafeterias for breakfast and shops nearby. Central Park for the morning run just a few blocks away. And even if you like to walk downtown, metro/subway is just around the corner! The area felt safe and the staff was really helpful and friendly.

AustraliaThe lifts were a little slow at peak hour but that's to be expected. The beds were a little bit soft too but got used to it quickly.
I loved everything about Hotel Lucerne. The location is amazing. There are convenient stores just across the streets. The hotel is so retro but so well maintained. Best of all it had a gym! We also had to request a fridge and it was free of charge.

United States of AmericaYour charges for this Hotel are way overpriced. I could have stayed for 1/2 the price had I booked directly.

United States of AmericaI understand it is New York but for what we paid the hotel was way below what I expected. It is quite aged, not too many upgrades (I mean to keep the charm of the old but you can still upgrade it). The furnitures were sort of old and unmatched. All the fixtures were sort of old. We did not have the shower curtain in the bathroom. The toiletry was a little meager.
The location was good. The staff was really nice. It was clean.

United States of AmericaThe room and furnishings are a bit dated and the air conditioning/heating system is confusing and old.
Location was great, rooms were big and clean, service was on point, doormen were extremely helpful, access to restaurant on the first floor was incredibly convenient.

United States of AmericaI thought the fitness center was lacking. Needs to be at least twice the size. Weather in NY can be unpredictable and it would have been nice to have had a larger indoor fitness offering with more modern equipment.
I was very impressed with the room and the cleanliness. The staff were very nice from start to finish. And the breakfast on Sunday was also very good.

GermanyFriendly welcome, first stay in NYC and when we entered the Lucerne, it was a kind of "classy" hotel, nice atmosphere which also continued in our room. Clean rooms, location just a few minutes from Central Park, same for the next Metro station.

United States of AmericaThere are only two small elevators, and often only one was working. A hotel of this size really needs more elevator capacity.
Great location, comfortable bed, fine accommodations.

United States of AmericaOnly negative was one of the elevators was out for most of our trip, and the other elevator was always packed and slow, we had to haul up and down the stairs most of the time. Also, the information about the additional room in the suites wasnt clear, as we thought there was a couch based on previous reviews but it was just two swivel chairs. We had to buy a blowup mattress for our 8 year old.
Fabulous hotel in a great location in the upper west side! It was tough to find a hotel in NYC that would fit our family of 5 (kids aged 13, 11 and 8) and not break the bank. We stayed in a 2 Queen suite that was plenty spacious and comfortable. The location could not have been better; 1 block from the subway, and just a few blocks from Central Park and the Natural History Museum, you can get anywhere in Manhattan easily! And shoutout to the Amsterdam Market across the street, which kept our family fed with bagels, breakfast sandwiches and other groceries as we were on the go! Highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again

IrelandIt's hard to find something i didn't like! Maybe the fact that there was no fridge in our room, it didn't bother us much as it was cold and we were out and about. But maybe in summer months I would have missed that.
After reading some of the reviews, I was a bit worried thinking it would be an old fashion, outdated hotel, but it was really nice! It is not a modern, straight lines, all-white decor type of hotel, it's very NY style and very elegant. The location was great, very nice neighbourhood, away from the bright lights and noisy Times Square but very easy to access that area or anywhere else by subway. Central Park 5 mins walk and plenty of restaurants around the corner. I highly recommend it

United States of AmericaOur Canadian cousins also stayed at the hotel. We were disappointed that there was no gathering place where we could talk, share a glass of wine, or perhaps bring takeout. The lobby was nice for waiting for others to be ready, but not a private place to sit and chat.
A very nice hotel with old-world charm in an excellent location. The staff was fantastic and the rooms were comfortable. We also loved the French restaurant on the ground floor, where we received 15% off for staying at the hotel.

United States of AmericaBottled drinking water for guests would be a big bonus. We did Instacart for a 6 liter pack for our drinking and making coffee. Would have paid at least $4 a bottle if the hotel provided.
