Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThere was nothing I didn’t like about The Marshall House.
I love the History behind The Marshall House. Let me not forget the Hostess Destany. She was such a pleasure to talk with. Very sweet, kind, and respectful.

United StatesOnly downside was we selected the balcony room for the outside space, however we were not able to use it due to the large number of bugs. I don’t blame the property for that, but would select a different room next time.
Wonderful home and location.

United StatesThe air condition didn't really do the job to stay cool, it was comfortable. We thought a better unit is needed. The tub is a the older claw tub " high " and the water didn't go down in it " older pipes " it took a long time my husband thought that really needs to be addressed as he showered behind me. The Water pressure was amazing. If you have issues lifting your legs into a tub, or Balance standing or Climbing stairs this would be a issue for u to stay here.
If you like history and want to go way back in time 60 years, This is the place for you. we enjoyed our self and communicated with the owner by text, if we needed anything she took care of it immediately. I like that it was very private and quiet. even thou their were others staying their we didn't really notice. we did not eat breakfast as we were up and out early 7am to explore , we peeked in at the dinning area it was "beautiful " older looking setting - very elegant.

United StatesNothing to dislike!!! Loved it!
Convenience: The property was conveniently located near all the Niagara Falls touristy things to do like the Observation Tower, Goat Island, Cave of The Winds etc. I love walking so I opted to walk but if you prefer to take and Uber, it’s only $8-$9! Lodgings: I stayed in the Burd Room and I loved the bed. It was soooo comfortable and I had my own orovate bathroom just outside the room. I felt safe because my room door had a keypad lock. My room had an AC so I stayed nice and cool during my late July stay and I was able to watch Netflix from the owner’s Firestick. The home is on the national registry of historical places which made me appreciate the home so much more! It was practically like a mini museum, with so many historical documents and items on display belonging to James G. Marshall and his family. Many of the original furnishings/decorations was seen throughout the house which made it so special! The hostess, Cherrish, went out of her way to ensure I had a good time. Communicative, great recommendations on things to do and the sweetest person ever! I took the Amtrak up and asked her about the walk between the station to the home. She ended up picking me up and also offered to drop me off at the end of my stay!! Brealfast was delightful, with so many options for beverages, a yogurt parfait to start and then a french toast personal casserole with bacon. There was also complimentary snacks, coffee, tea and water. This was my first experience in a B&B and this has set expectations high going forward. Highly recommend anyone to book here. You will feel right at home and I enjoyed meeting other guests. I cannot wait to come back!

United StatesMy favorite vacation stay to date. Very close to The Falls. The history of the house was really nice. Sit or swing on the porch in the evening and early morning for coffee, enjoy the sounds. Oh the Details of yesteryear. Breakfast was exceptional. Top notch presentation and quality breakfast. My wife said the quiche was the best she has ever had, and she really enjoys quality food. Very personable.

AustriaCherrish was a wonderful host; as I had to leave very early, she provided me with a delicious breakfast for the road. The Marshall house is a unique place, comfortable but with the charm of an era we know only from books and movies. Close to the Niagara Falls, so a great spot for visiting them.

United StatesThere isn’t anything we didn’t like. However, I will say that this is a historic house with lots of creaky old house charm. If you’re not into historic homes, this might not be the stay for you.
The breakfast was so wonderful, very obviously made with love! It was fun getting to know the other people staying in the b&b as we all sat around the table together for breakfast every morning. We were provided with a sweet and savory course, along with coffee, tea, and juice. The spread was awesome.

United StatesI do wish that I had a preference to book a room with either a shower stall or a bath/shower combo. It certainly wasn’t a deal breaker, we just prefer the combo. Not altering the floor plan of this historic home is important, so we understand that some rooms have smaller baths! :) The mattresses could be updated. Ours was a little firm for our liking. Pillows and blankets were soft, and perfect.
The food and management of this gem are unbeatable. The value of your plated breakfast and the amenities, including snacks and coffee, make this bed and breakfast a true value. It felt like home away from home!
