Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyStill have to work out the financials/costs and understand the billing. We booked via booking.com which they made clear, so didn't help much in this regard. The walls in our room were very thin, so it was awkward when we heard the bed on the other side banging and squeaking, especially since I traveled with my just 12 year old daughter. A kettle in the room would have been a bonus.
Very unique place with lovely staff that was very helpful when we needed something, including some glasses instead of another set of plastic cups! Loved the decor and the ability to rent bikes, which was real special.

United StatesThe Oxbow is an ideal location for us in downtown Eau Claire. The area is beautifully updated for easy walking, biking and enjoying outdoor spaces. The Oxbow has a wonderful restaurant on site and there are great restaurants/coffee shops/bars close by. Also easy to bring our dog when we want. So comfortable and ideal for us!

United StatesSuch a warm welcome! The Oxbow is a thriving facet in the Eau Claire community. Not only supporting the businesses around them, but also supporting local talent, whether that be an emerging musician or an experimental.chef. It's just too bad I wasn't able to dine at the Lakely, at they accommodated me to make I got my drink with my token.

United StatesFabulous in every way - exactly how my friend and I were hoping it would be! Most wonderful staff, too, including the manager Sarah, who was at the front desk when we checked out and brought our excellent experience full circle with her kindness when we had a special request. We loved the bad/restaurant/music venue - so fun to chat while listening to talented locals perform live music (it was open mic night). Will stay here again for sure!

United KingdomThere is a smell of damp plaster or something similar in the communal areas but we spent very little time in that area, so no problem at all. Explained other people's comments, but as a minor thing it didn't bother us at all
Gorgeous hotel, not sure why there are negative reviews. Staff were very friendly and helpful, hotel is cute. Room was spacious and some drinks and other items can be bought on site. The little shop beside it is also great for gifts. Lovely location, a short walk to restaurants and shops and the nearby River Walk is beautiful

United StatesThe futon/couch in our room was not comfortable.
We loved the laid-back, artsy feel of the hotel. The location is superb. This section of Eau Claire is going through a rebirth and we were happy to take advantage. We had a 25-minute walk to a ballgame one night, and 15 minutes to live outdoor music the next. The city's magnificent trail system is just across the street. The Oxbow is also a terrific value. We will definitely be back.

United StatesWe never really found a good casual restaurant in our walks. Part of the problem could have been that we didn't really know what we wanted.
Loved the turntable in our room, with LPs at the reception area to check out (on an old library card check-out) and enjoy. Walked all over Eau Claire for dinner, then landed in the hotel's restaurant on drag bingo night instead. Great hors d'oeuvres and atmosphere.

United StatesThe road noise from Galloway St. was a bit more than expected, but not enough to be bothersome. It would have been even nicer if the Lakely restaurant offered breakfast.
The hotel was full of atmosphere with feeling of cozyness everywhere. The room was fairly basic, but the interior furnishings and the record player more than made up for it. The staff were friendly but not intrusive, and the fellow guests all seemed good mannered and courteous. Hotel was a short walk from downtown and the riverfront pathways, with many interesting shops and cafes in between.
