Code to access exterior door didn’t work. Lobby lounge was closed and barricaded in the morning when coffee was supposed to be available.

This hotel is called a satellite hotel, meaning you receive a code to enter your room and every detail is given in mails. I would have preferred a reception desk. The staff in the bar can however answer questions. After a visit to the black canyon, I dropped again at the bar of the hotel as restaurants on the Main Street were closed after a parade. The manager got me a sandwich nearby! This was extremely nice.

The shower doesn't have doors, so the floors got pretty wet and slippery during each shower.

This hotel is stunning. The rooms were so beautiful that we adjusted our plans to be able to enjoy the stay a little longer. We loved the cocktails and conversation provided by Jay. She is a gem. We also highly recommend getting a matcha from the coffee shop to start your day.

There are no designated parking spaces for hotel guests. Although the bathroom has beautiful plumbing fixtures and tile design, water sprays all over the bathroom while you're showering because there are no shower doors. There is also a wide gap on the barn door to the bathroom when closed, leaving oneself visible when using the toilet.

The Rathbone Hotel is situated in the heart of Downtown Montrose and across the street from a police station. Many surrounding buildings are under construction to improve the Downtown area. The location is in close proximity to the major highway that leads to Black Canyon of the Gunnison and many restaurants. The hotel is new, and hence, all the amenities are updated! The cocktail bar attached to the hotel serves wonderfully refreshing drinks.

No table, desk or seating. We hated to eat takeout on the white bedding, but had no choice. Also, no “front desk,” and door codes do not work until 4:00pm ON THE DOT!

There was no place in the (large) bathroom to put anything! They could have put a shelf below the sink but instead there's a big basket, I assume for dirty towels. But no place to put your cosmetics, curling iron or clothes. And ONE PLY toilet paper! Maybe this is for the historic plumbing, but oy, I could see through it. I felt like I paid enough for at least another ply. Speaking of clothes. This is the biggie for me. THERE WAS NO PLACE TO HANG ANYTHING! Not one hanger in the place. Not even a hook. There was an a dresser with drawers and shelves if you've got a lot of sweatshirts I guess. There was an alcove that held the luggage rack and there could have been a bar in that alcove to hang things, but there wasn't. Don't know if that was part of the remodel they just forgot, but I couldn't hang my coat and I couldn't hang my clothes to get the travel wrinkles out. No coffee in the room. You have to walk to the bar to get coffee, which is good, and free, but I do enjoy having my first cup of coffee before I get out of my jammies. No such luck here. Of course, there is no shelf or table for the coffee so I don't see that changing. Lastly, they really over did it with the scented reed diffusers. One in our bathroom, one around the corner, multiples in the bar, just EVERYWHERE. I am not sensitive to scents, but this was a LOT.

First, the good. Everything looked new and was very clean. The beds and pillows were super comfortable. The shower was enjoyable. The TV was nice and big. The amenities in the bathroom were nice. It just seems as if they were going for fashion over function. "Minimalist" might be the term. The people that worked the Parlor Bar were all wonderful. Very pleasant, smiling, quick to get anything you needed both in the morning for the coffee and in the evening when we had a wind down drink. The custom cocktails were delicious. I did not try any food, but I saw some served and it looked and smelled good! Lastly, they really over did it with the scented reed diffusers. One in our bathroom, one around the corner, multiples in the bar, just EVERYWHERE. I am not sensitive to scents, but this was a LOT.
