How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Hello, the front desk was quite nice to your daughter. Your daughter showed up at 1pm told the staff that she needs to get into the room to get ready to attend a wedding party. The staff mentioned that units were still being worked on and we could do the best we can to assist her as check-in time is 3pm. The front desk clerk said she would do whatever she could to get her in sooner and worked above and beyond to rush the process. Your daughter did not and possibly could not wait to check in at 3pm due to the party that we did not have information about. She then returns and says I have an emergency and need to get ready for the event. She asks for the refund and to go somewhere that would let her get ready earlier. So, it would be nice if people didn’t try to make excuses to get out of paying for their room on behalf of accusing staff members who work quite hard to make it a positive stay for guests. We would appreciate that people practice kindness and not make things up to get out of paying for their room. It would be nice to see people read the policies and times of check-ins and ask questions by contacting the office before their stay so we can accommodate special arrangements. Management

This was a poor example for the Red Lion chain. Room as outdated, the stairs were falling apart and dangerous. This hotel honored our nation by jacking up their prices right before Memorial Day weekend. The passing trains were very loud .
Hello, thank you for staying with us. The steps have extra traction for winter weather. So, in fact they are safer for guests than a smooth surface. There are different rates for the weekdays when you travel from Sunday-Wednesday than there are for the weekends which are Friday and Saturday. This is not new for just one location but for most of us in the hotel industry. Central Oregon is a busy tourist area and our season begins with Memorial Day weekend, we base our rates by what our competitors charge as we can see their prices. The train you are talking about runs from California to Seattle. So, I'm not sure any of us can move the tracks for a guest. However, you are welcome to contact Southern Pacific railways or Amtrak for your thoughts. Also, the highways do the same thing, they are also running in directions which make it convenient for guests throughout our State and for our neighboring States. To re-route any highways, you can contact the Oregon Department of Transportation for your thoughts. Hello, if there were any issues with your stay, you needed to let the front desk know. The breakfast items are posted in the lobby. Our breakfast items are not unbranded or inferior in quality. The items are all kept fresh, purchased this Friday for our weekend guests and then again on Wednesday. The items offered at our Express Breakfast are all posted in the lobby. This includes premium coffees, assortment of teas, pastries, oatmeal, hot chocolate, burritos, greek yogurt assortments, juice varieties, crepes, and much more. Either you arrived after the timing of breakfast where limited items are available or you simply did not ask for assistance. The shopper spends extra time to buy additional items for office guests and we would have gladly assisted you, if you arrived after the breakfast timing, we could have helped you with a grab and go bag even. A suggestion would be to possibly inquire about the breakfast options before checking in and to make sure you are happy with the surrounding area before you stay somewhere.

Verified reviewPaper thin walls/door. Could hear all neighbors. Neighbors on one side were up fighting and yelling all night from midnight to 6 am. No sleep. Almost called police several times. Probably should have.
Hello, thank you for staying with us. If there is every any issue whatsoever, you just needed to get a hold of the front desk. We would have also called the police with you. If we knew you were disturbed then we would have relocated you to a far away unit while we investigated the issue. The unit has sound proof doors and with the heating unit on, you should not have had any noise. With the individuals fighting, that is another issue, and that needed to be reported to the front desk and/or the local police. Please, let the front desk know, we do not tolerate noise after hours and also anything like what you are mentioning. We wish we could have taken care of it right then and there for you! Management

Road noise, train tracks across the street
Hello, thank you so much for your feedback. We really appreciated having you stay with us. It was a pleasure having you. We are so happy that you had a great stay. This means a lot to our staff and management who are available around the clock to assist you. So, thank you from the bottom of our hearts! To help address your question and for others: Occasionally, people describe the tracks or the highway but this is something that runs throughout our entire region and not just us, if you map the tracks or the highway. So, this is a route that comes from California, Klamath Falls, station at Chemult, then through all of La Pine, all of Sunriver, to Bend and then to Eugene and to Portland to Seattle. The highway is the same but the tracks don't have a train coming all day but maybe once and it is a historic station so you are lucky to witness the train when it passes by. The highways are all busier now everywhere you go. We feel we are situated quite a ways away from the road but in other places like some parts of Bend which is more populated, the highway runs along 3rd street which is right next to the road, for example. We do have heavier, soundproof doors and as long as you keep them closed, you can mute out most noises especially when the ac/heat unit is on. But, yes, this is a personal thing, if you are extra sensitive, you may want to bring something with you to help you for all of your travels. The business locations are all made for helping travelers get to their destination and for accessibility and are organized by the city and county. So, you can find us with ease off main intersections and roadways. Verified reviewThe front desk lady did not allow my daughter and her two children to stay at the hotel. We booked on Booking.com for one adult and two children. Because the lady at the front desk didn’t realize my daughter had two children and she was bringing them in, gave her a key and then decided to take her key back when she realized she had her children with her even though the reservation and the booking was done with my daughters name and her two children, my daughter is out of water at her place and needs to have her and her children a place to stay sleep and shower. I prepaid this with my credit card.
Richeson, Hello, the office is not charging you for your unit. You will need to contact Booking.com which is the place they made the reservation. There were several phone calls made to the office which someone was screaming at the front desk over the phone regarding the individual's stay. Otherwise, the person renting the unit was fine to stay and we were trying to find a way to assist the guest. But, after consistent shouting phone calls to the front desk from someone other than the guest, it was in the best interest of the staff that they allowed you to get a refund for your booking. Since you reserved through Booking.com, they are the only ones that are holding your charges so you need to contact them directly. We are not holding your funds, they are and that is what the office has been trying to explain you. We also are trying to assist you with this refund, which is why we have been explaining to you what you need to do. Otherwise, if anyone is ever extremely rude, screams, and threatens the front staff, we will forward all calls to the local police. Management

The pricing is based upon what our competitors charge in Central Oregon for the season, we are able to view competitor rates and base those on a bit less than what we see going in the area. However, traveling off season and from Sundays-Tuesdays will get you the most affordable rates. The breakfast is Red Lion Inn and Suites Express Breakfast offerings with all options posted in the lobby so you can see this upon check-in. Told in advance pet charge would be $100 because they are the only pet friendly hotel in LaPine which is true. Pet fees are usually no more than $25. During check out I was refused entrance into the lobby with my 15lb pet because no dogs are allowed into the lobby. Not at all pet friendly, have been allowed into every pet friendly hotel lobby I have ever stayed in. I would have gladly stayed in the Best Western down the street for a much lower room fee but they did not allow pets. Also charged a refundable $100 incident fee which was refunded during checkout, I found that very strange. For a 1 night stay charged $412.00 after the refund $312 for one night. I would have never stayed there but was with a large group that had planned this out months in advance and no other options. Very sad for a business to think overcharging consumers is going to make up for volume, it will not in the long run. I read the reviews prior to booking and I knew they were very bad so it was my decision. I am only informing people in advance what I experienced so you can make your decision to stay here or not.

Jon, Hello, I'm sorry that you are upset that you took/damaged remote control in your unit and that you were upset when we told you that you smoked in a non-smoking room and that we are a non-smoking establishment. It's unfortunate that if we follow the policies that make it easier on everyone else, you are upset with that and it results in a negative review for the property. It's unfortunate that this misleads people and it's unfair for the property managers to have to deal with people who break the rules or damage items. I'm not sure if you arrived after the Express breakfast was over which is over at 9:30am. A lot of people enjoy these options and we store many options in our fridge in warm, summer months also. Verified reviewCheck in and location was great. There was a couple of restaurants near as well as gas stations and markets. Lots of parking and room was comfortable.
Virtually no breakfast other than a couple of pastries and breakfast bars. The price was also increased significantly from off season as there are only a couple hotels in the area. Going north, Redmond was probably a better option if I could have lasted another hour or so on my bike.

Central Oregon is quite busy in the summer with seasonal concerts, events, and beautiful weather as access to all of our lakes and rivers are quite popular and finally open with warm weather. Off-season for Central Oregon is usually in the Fall, Spring, and Winter months. Also, Sunday-Tuesday is another time you may want to look at traveling, if the prices seem higher to you. We do offer an Express Breakfast here and that does include a variety of different options. We do have a list in our office lobby to the selection variety and also the hours for the Express breakfast. Perhaps, you arrived after 9:30 am as our times are from 6:30-9:30am and the breakfast was over. In that case, we still at times keep a few items that are leftover and that sounds like the items you were mentioning. If you have any questions ever, please just ask the front desk as we could have provided you with a grab and go bag, if you missed the breakfast. Thank you! -Management

Sue, Hello, I'm glad you liked our rooms! We do, too! Our Coffee is from Royal Cup premium coffee which Red Lion Corporate has researched that many guests appreciate this premium product and have selected this brand for in the rooms. If you were unhappy, we had a few more coffee options including a keurig selection and also instant for those that have different flavor preferences in the lobby, as well as another coffee selection called ROAR. All you had to do was ask and we would have helped you out. The breakfast is an Express Breakfast, it does consist of a wide variety of options. We did provide a list in the office as we also include more than what is required such as greek yogurts, adult cereal, oatmeal, string cheese, coffee, tea, burritos, and so much more. There are several options that do not have sugar in them. If you had a question about this, you could also ask so we could have tried to accommodate you better. The breakfast is from 6:30-9:30am, I think you arrived when it was over. However, we do store extra fruit in the fridge that you could have grabbed just below the counter.
