Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

We recently stayed at this wonderful holiday home and our experience was nothing short of amazing! First and foremost, the house was impeccably clean and well-maintained, which made us feel comfortable and at ease from the moment we arrived. The host was incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. From the welcome treats to the detailed local recommendations, their hospitality truly made our stay special.Everything in the house was exactly as described in the listing. Apartment was spacious and beautifully decorated, the beds were extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless. The fully equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare our own meals easily, which was a great convenience. One of the highlights was the beautiful swimming pool. We spent many relaxing afternoons lounging by the pool, soaking up the sun, and enjoying the serene environment. Additionally, the on-site gym was a fantastic bonus. We made good use of the fitness equipment, which helped us stay active during our vacation.

Quite difficult to find apartment initially as full instructions did not arrive until after we got to the apartment. There needs to be additional bedding available ie a sheet under the bed throw as this was a little rough against my skin. Also a blanket for if night is a little chilly. Owner responded to questions quickly.
Quiet apartment in a large complex with pool, gym. Well kitted out kitchen. Easy A/C and temp control. Walking distance to marina is 10 minutes. Supermarket 3 minutes. Felt rested after staying and would stay again if in the area. Reasonable price and no deposit required which was good as when travelling round and staying at different locations the deposits deplete your available cash and take up to 2 weeks to return to your account.

Big gap in window shades when laying in bed. Felt a little overlooked from passersby. Not a huge deal but an easy fix. Personal issue, I could not use the laundry facilities as it requires downloading an app and a US phone number to verify an account. I have a UK phone number which was not acceptable.
Great location between the marina and town. Great supermarket on the doorstep. Very comfortable bed. Kitchen facilities were excellent and fully utilised. Bath tub and infinite hot water.

Fantastic location close to the beach, super easy check in and out, perfect size and amenities (parking, washer, dryer, kitchen, gym in the building) and very comfortable bed, quiet at night. Awesome!

I had to leave 2 days early due to a family emergency and even though I knew that my stay was non refundable I wish they could have worked something out with me due to the circumstances and maybe refund me at least one of those days.
