    • King Room with City View

    Felt claustrophobic

Was given a room with windows and a view. But A/C did not work and it was too noisy with music from down below on the street. Had to go to a room with no window.

The outlets by the bed did not work well. The bedside lights have switches that are unreachable from the bed. Wish they had food and coffee in the evening at the bar. As a business traveler, I found the location ideal with easy access to restaurants etc. I am not sure I would stay near the pool.

The was warm, friendly and helpful. The room was large and comfortable.

Much older of a building than what the pictures showed. AC was not distributed throughout the entire building and the one in the room took a long time to cool down. Room was also musty smelling.

    Location was key.

I enjoyed the pool, and that it was downtown. I LOVED the vintage wallpaper on the walls.

Staff were rubbish. Took ages to speak to you. When I checked in I was told I needed to pay even though I had paid in full 11 months ago. Staff member called booking.com to confirm I was correct. Same thing happened when I checked out- why hadn’t the first member of staff noted this on my booking?? Thought I was going to miss my taxi to the airport with all the messing about, was not happy!

Handy location for downtown Durham. Had an internal room (no window) which was actually fine- only used the room for sleeping/showering!

A unique stay in the heart of bull town

    • Corner King Room with City View
    • Stayed 2 nights

As another reviewer mentioned happened to them, we were told on arrival that our corner king room with city view was not available (maintenance they said) and only a smaller interior room with no windows was available - which was upsetting. We were promised a switch to a suite the following night and a credit to use at the hotel bar/restaurant/parking to make up for it. While we just had to take it on faith, the manager did make good on those promises. He made the confirmation adjustments and sent us a thank you note for our flexibility.

The location is great, situated right in the center of things. Great restaurants and bars all around. The rooms are clean and bright. Decor is a kind of motel-chic, retro vibe. The staff are nice. It's literally attached to a parking garage so if you have a car that's pretty convenient - although parking is free on the street on weekends. The pool area hosts some parties at the weekend which were interesting.

I need to work in the hotel room when I travel for work obviously. The desk in the room was pretty much unusable because there was a TV on the desk instead of hanging on the wall. The parking system is a little goofy. I had an issue that was corrected by the staff.

Location and staff were fantastic , the bed was very comfortable.

A little overpriced for what it was, but limited options in centre of town so beggars can’t be choosers. Our delayed flight got us there at midnight, so we did not love housekeeping banging on the door at 7:00am the next morning to clean the room before we had checked out?!

    Good location, nicely refurbished, clean.

The pool view rooms are small and noisy. We booked a corner city view room but none were available when we checked in. I would definitely not pick a pool view unless you're going to party.

The location is perfectly in the middle of downtown with parking attached. We are locals so we can vouch for how central it is. The room was clean and the bathroom is really nice and modern. The pool is one of very few in downtown Durham. Super helpful staff, especially at the front desk! It's pet friendly, too.
