How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewFantastic location, coupons offered a discount at the Lake Front Restaurant and the Glimmerglass Queen boat tour (although the discounts have not kept up with the rise in prices for meals and inflation).
It would be nice to have an ice machine at the Visions Inn instead of having to walk to the Lake Front Hotel. I feel like the cost of the room should be a bit more affordable, considering Hall of Fame induction weekend had come and gone. Perhaps additional discounts to other restaurants, museums, etc. could be arranged as well.

We had to check-io two blocks away at the Lake Front Hotel. No information given about the town. There were zero facilities associated with Visions Inn, just rooms. The room itself was spacious, but dour. At $250 a night it was poor value for money.

Verified reviewThe check in for the hotel is at a motel a block away. There is no staff at the actual hotel. They didn't have a crib or pack n play for the baby, and there was no soap in the room when we got there

As advertised you do check in at our main hotel and we do not provide cribs, we are sorry that in all the advertisements and confirmation that you didn’t understand that. Soap is provided to all guests and should anything of been missing a quick call to our office would have solved that issue.

The room was not what I expected from the pictures. The air conditioning was not the best. No elevator.

I was cute but no ice or drinks on sight but an ice bucket and cups. We had shampoo and conditioner but no soap and because property is offsite from the motel you can just walk down and get it

Verified reviewThis is a perfect location for anyone going to the Baseball Hall of Fame. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. It was only about a one-half block walk up to the Hall and the main street. The staff we encountered were extremely nice. There was also an assigned parking space in the front of the building.

The TV never worked. We reported that to the housekeeping staff and she said she would tell the front desk and have someone come fix it but we were there for a week, and it never got repaired. The shower was ridiculously small and difficult to shower in. Having to go to the Lake Front Hotel for ice was very inconvenient.

Verified reviewQuirky, awsome little gem RIGHT IN THE CENTRE OF COOPERSTOWN! Literally half a block from the Baseball Hall Of Fame (you can see it from the drive!), and down a short lane from the incredibly great Stagecoach Coffee Shop. You park, and it's so close to everything you don't need to drive again unless you're hitting something outside the village. Super clean, HUGE room, super quiet and LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. Loved it and hope to stay there again!
It got rather hot at night, and the curtains could be a bit less see-through (we were on the ground floor).

We are so sorry that you were disappointed. With all respect we didn’t realize that instructions were needed to use a thermostat. We are available 24 hours a day for any issues that may arise during any guests stay. When you did notify staff the issue was dealt with immediately and although you did have heat, by turning up the thermostat. We hope you enjoyed Cooperstown.

Room stuffy very hot unable to control or turn heat off. Room had musty smell. Shower head was tiny with a 3/4 inch diameter flow. This was a first floor room with view to the parking area for the inn's parking spots that had the window covered solely by a flimsy completely see thru curtain. Bed pillow uncomfortable.
