Just minutes away from the Volcano National Park. We had 3 rooms for our party of 9 and the rooms were all very big, with plenty of space for everyone. Snacks and breakfast items were provided; we especially loved the little packages of locally-made cookies. The owner was very quick to respond to our questions. Nice place to stay if you want to be close to the National Park.

Excellent location and price, only about a mile from the Park entrance. Clean, comfortable bed, and space heater to take the chill out of the room. Excellent shower water pressure.

Some options for the breakfast might be nice... yogurt, granola, different breads to toast.. We often find that there could be more hooks, towel racks in bathrooms... would be nice.

Location, size and comfort of the rooms. John was very helpful as a host. It was chilly but the space heater heated the room quickly. I am a bird watcher... wonderful property for birding!

The location was very close to our planned activities. The room was spacious and clean. This was the third visit to Volcano Forest Inn. We will plan to return next year.

I was surprised at the breakfast choices. Bananas and apples, white bread, peanut butter and jam, granola bars. The common area was not very inviting but there was a very large tv. Our friends stayed at a bnb cottage for the same price and had homemade bread and sweets delivered every day, a stovked refrigerator with eggs and bacon, water , juice. A modern bathroom and a nice living room. The volcano forest inn was very basic but if you like to eat out. It is a value place.

The room was very large, quiet and clean. Coffee was ready in the morning.

A lot of rules posted everywhere - mostly common sense, but it makes you a bit antsy.

Really good common areas - kitchen, living room, etc. Room was huge, location really good for the National Park.

We really didn't understand how damp and sticky the place would feel. Wierd having so much stuff in the fridge.

Really nice to have coffee, fruit and baked goods. Great location near the park. Spacious, clean rooms.

I guess I expected more of a bed and breakfast, which it wasn’t. The inn is very rustic. The owner, Jon, was very nice, but sent us several very “strong” emails the day before we were to check-in about check-in and check-out and penalties for not following the “rules”.

The breakfast was not what we expected. In fact, I don’t think anyone in our party ate anything. We had one person with a nut allergy, so the granola bars were out of the question.

People go to sleep pretty early, we got in at 9pm and everything was dark, we felt like we were going to wake everyone up. There is a loud humming noise or some kind of machine that kicks on all day and night so it was hard to sleep. Breakfast should be more specific on Priceline description, free breakfast includes granola bars, packages of oatmeal and pastries pre portioned in a basket in your room.

Location was convenient and close to the volcano but I recommend flying in to Hilo airport because Kona is 2 1/2 hrs away. I like the big rooms and the comfy king size bed. There is also a porch and chairs you can sit on outside. There was a kitchen you could cook in and a fridge you could store food. They had a list of close by restaurants with the numbers. Rooms were big and spacious. You get a code for the door.

The house is rather old, electricity circuit cannt handle multiple appliance.

location is great. 2 min drive to the Volcano NP. The facility is also clean and spacious.

Perfect starting point for the Volcano Park, only 5 minutes from the entrance but literally in the forest so very quiet. Restaurants and shops within 5 minutes by car. The Lodge has a very well equipped kitchen available if you want to prepare your food by yourself. Jon the host ensures that the whole Inn is always very clean and tidy and he is also very helpful when you need anything.

Sharing a kitchen with everyone else. No microwave or coffee pot in the room. Not exceptionally clean (hair in drain and mold around overflow in tub, deck!not clean). One other thing, for the host: The welcome statement that we were texted was very unfriendly, I thought. You might want to rewrite it since it is supposed to be a welcome, is it not? Instead it mentioned what not to do and ways to get fees. I was surprised to see how nice you were in person.

The room was big with our own private deck out of sight from others.

For this high price some fresh breakfast should be provided. Packaged oatmeal and small granola bars are very lame, we found fresh baked goods at the Farmer's Market thankfully!
