Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOlder property so understandably walls are very thin in our room but we were right next to kitchen/ common dining area and since people had late dinners and very early loud breakfast like 7am and we could hear every word they said, this woke us. Also dining room lights wouldn’t turn off for a long time and so shone under our doors very bright and there’s no obvious switches for these they’re on timers I think? Would have liked to turn them off at night especially as they’re signs up about saving energy Place was mostly very clean but our room had a lot of dust/dirt on floor when we arrived which we noticed as you have to take shoes off when you go in - could feel lots of dirt/sand on floor and our feet were black on the bottom after walking around barefoot but the rest of the place was really clean. Toilet was a “water saving toilet” but would only fully flush if you held the handle down for a long time which seemed to use more water than normal toilets and also meant a lot of people kept leaving “things” in the toilet which wasn’t nice to keep finding maybe could have a sign up saying to hold it for longer to avoid this Nothing major was a very pleasant stay
Really pretty property with lovely jungle surroundings Huge room and lots of storage Working TV in room Very close to volcano national park Well equipped kitchen Bathrooms were very clean and lots of clean towels and shampoo and soap provided was great Strong WiFi Rooms had fans to cool you or heaters to warm you which I thought was really nice Loved the self check in process Very easy to find

United StatesThere are a lot of stairs so if you have difficulty with stairs, this isn't the place for you. We had not problems bc we had small bags.
The location was perfect since it was super close to Volcano National Park. This is much more like a European Hostel. Our room was small with a queen size bed and located on top floor of the house. It was perfect for our needs. Sharing the bathroom was never an issue. No one was waiting on us and we were never waiting on the bathroom on our floor. If it was occupied, we could have easier used another bathroom. We enjoyed meeting the other couples from around the world. The couples in the other 4 bedrooms were all friendly and respectful. We had food in the fridge and freezer without any issues. We loved it.

United StatesBeautiful location and lovely old home that has so much heart and soul. The place is self serving so we didn’t meet any staff but it was easy to communicate with them online and checking in was simple. Our room was so cozy and warm which was nice because the volcano area can be chilly. Would absolutely stay here again!

United StatesThere is a common kitchen which is nice, but there isn’t really a common area to sit and hang out, such as a living room with couches. Everything was clean in general, though there were some pebbles and an earplug on the ground in my room from a previous guest. Check in is contactless, though they wanted me to write down my credit card number and leave it on a piece of paper in the room for possible damage. This does not seem secure at all and is not modern practice. Location is sort of in the middle of nowhere. It was very close to the park entrance, but there are no real amenities in the area. Next time, I would probably stay closer to Hilo and drive down.
There is a common kitchen which is nice. The bedroom was nice, though in the basement, and felt like it was in a basement.

GermanyBest accommodation I had so far on the island, nestled within a beautiful garden and very close to the Volcano NP. Check-in is easy and extremely professionally organised. I loved my charming room on the ground floor with a most comfortable bed. Bathrooms were very clean, plenty of towels. Kitchen was equipped for preparing little meals. (Although I highly recommend the Tuktuk Thai Food Truck at the golf course)

United StatesWalls are thin. If the other guests are making any noise it can be heard. Wild pigs were in the front yard every day. They don't seem aggressive yet, but it's clear that they are getting fed by guests or neighbors. More of an invasive species issue than anything else though.
Location is right outside Volcano National Park. Higher elevation makes the air cooler than down at sea level.

United StatesMy least favorite thing was that the hot water was too hot, which would have been fine if the shower had allowed for changing the temperature. If it was on full enough to rinse thoroughly it was too hot. If you tried to lower the temp, the shower was a trickle. This resulted in taking an overlong shower trying to go back and forth and compensate for the bad pressure vs the temp change. There is no oven and the toaster oven did not work at all. This should be replaced.
We were quite happy with our stay. The amenities were decent, though a comfy place to sit outside and in the shared dining/living area would have been nice.

GermanyFans and light in shared space must run 24/7. Kitchen equipment was good but might need some update. No tea towel to dry washed dishes. Message from host felt a little like spam. Too long messages and all the time the same. A little bit annoying.
Good location and price. Nice shared space with kitchen (might be a little small if fully booked). Parking available. Good internet. Would stay here again.
