Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Spectacular jungle location! Emily made us an excellent breakfast and by night we enjoyed a relaxing jacuzzi.

ItalyEverything was great! As a tiny suggestion, it might be helpful to have a small table in the rooms.
We loved Emily’s Eco Retreat! It is such a hidden gem surrounded by the rain forest and lush vegetation. We felt warmly welcomed and taken care of throughout our stay! The bamboo structures and the rooms’ layout of this small eco retreat made it intimate and special. We enjoyed meeting other guests and spending time chatting in the shared hot tub at the end of a busy day of explorations. Finally, breakfast was absolutely incredible!

CanadaNothing. It was such an amazing stay!
Emily and Court were outstanding and we feel incredibly lucky to have met them and been hosted by them. The property is beautiful, serene and intimate. The retreat feels like a reprieve from regular life and has all the creature comforts and thoughtful touches that anyone could need (like great toilet paper, a wine opener in the room, lux toiletries, beverages stocked on your fridge, and yoga mats). The sounds of the wildlife (the frogs particularly!) were so incredible at night and the birds in the morning. The breakfasts they provided were nothing short of spectacular. It was some of the best food we ate on any of the Hawaiin Islands that we visited. I still think about their vegan loco moco and chickpea frittata! Stay here if you're looking for something intimate, away from the bustle of city life, and special. This resort is LGBTQ+ friendly! <3 I hope to see you again!

United States of AmericaThere aren’t many restaurants around (just a nice one about 15 min away), so it can be tricky after a long day of hiking.
Very unique place! Gorgeous and peaceful, they only have 4 bungalows so you get a customized and warm welcome. The owners are wonderful and the breakfast is amazingly good. Hidden gem just about 30 min away from the volcano park and about 20 min away from Hilo and black sand beaches. I hope I can come back soon!

WHAT AN AMAZING PLACE. Gabi and Tony treat you like a king and always happy to help. This place is a piece of Paradise in the Big Island. Without forgetting that Sushi (the Chihuahua) is one of the nicest dogs I’ve ever seen. Great Wi-Fi connection. Jacuzzi is amazing. And be ready for amazing breakfasts!!!!

United Kingdomnothing, everything was perfect
The eco retreat was in a secluded spot, close to the national parks. The retreat was set in beautiful, well kept grounds, and the rooms were clean and had all the amenities needed for a few days of pure relaxation. Both Gabby & Tony were super friendly and helpful with our questions about the island and provided recommendations of local restaurants and places to visit. The vegan breakfast that they prepared each morning was spectacular - not only pretty but delicious! the hot tub was also great after a few hours hiking around the National park. Their resident dog, sushi, was also super friendly and filled us with entertainment and smiles throughout our stay. We visited for our honeymoon from London and although it was a long journey, we’ll be returning and recommending to anyone who plans to visit the Hawaiian islands.

United States of AmericaOnly small suggestion would be to add some stepping stones throughout the property for when its raining and the ground starts to get soggy/muddy. Otherwise, the property was perfect in every way!
Tony and his wife (and their dog Sushi) couldn't have been better or more gracious hosts. They were extremely attentive when we needed anything, but left us in complete privacy and solitude when we didn't. The property itself is stunning and serene with an overwhelming abundance of peace and quiet. The grounds are immaculately landscaped and there is a hot tub at the center of the property where you can enjoy the incredible sounds of the surrounding jungle at night. As many other reviews have pointed out, the homemade breakfasts are delicious (we especially enjoyed the green smoothie served in a pineapple and the chickpea avocado toast). And while it's admittedly a bit of a drive to find other food, Tony and his wife provided us with a long list of great restaurants and other food options in the general area. If you're looking to get off the grid and relax in nature while visiting the Volcanoes NP/Hilo side of the Big Island, this is definitely your place! A+ experience across the board.

United States of Americawe are not vegan and all the breakfasts were without any options such as cream for coffee, butter for bread, etc… I get the no meat and can support that, but they can’t expect every guest to want to go without dairy and eggs for breakfast especially when they can be ethically sourced in Hawaii
