The rooms need to be updated because the outlets aren’t working and none in the bathroom. Beds need to be replaced and rugs need to be replaced. And plumbing

It was charming and the restaurant had really good food. Expensive but good. Nice staff.

We stay here every year to be near family for Christmas - we love the old hotel from the check in counter, the real key and the rooms - the bar and restaurant downstairs is a huge plus!

Breakfast or at least muffins, donuts, fruit or something. Coffee pots in rooms. ALL electric sockets working. I booked through booking .com and the price was much higher through them. Never again!!!

There was no breakfast. No coffee pot, some of the electric outlets did not work.

I think the bathroom room needs updating. There were a lot of electrical cords on the floor. The room door seemed like you could kick in

I liked the age and look of the hotel. We entered and saw a nice dining area! Parking beside the building was in good shape and well lite.

Rustic would be one thing But zero upkeep and updates is a different story. Carpet in room the room looked like it was from 1940 and last cleaned in 1950 Room was over bar…. Noise until 2:30am No fan in room and no A/C. Very hot Bathroom ceiling covered in water stains and shower had permanent mold Not charming……

Small amount of maintenance can be done (at least in our room), such as replacement of broken and damaged ceiling tiles, and replacing moldy caulking around base of tub/shower. If you have an additional budget, replacement of carpet would make the stay exceptional all year round. My perception is that revenue can be increased once this is done as well. If one room per week can be remedied, the guests will flock!

Amazing location in the center of town. Food at the hotel is AMAZING and reasonably priced. Adjacent to it is a very cool arcade and eatery, great if you have kids. Beautiful architecture as well.

Hotel staff severely overworked. The waitress had to check me in while running back and forth between her tables. There isn't a hotel clerk to check people in. Staff is extremely hard working. If you check in please have patience with them.

I wish they'd invest a little bit more in the hotel part and not just in the bar area. I've been coming to honesdale for over 30 years and I've seen this hotel at its worst and I know that it was under New Management in the past decade. The walls ceiling and plumbing all needs some serious TLC and I would have expected that to have begun taking place. Our first room had one of the old radiators and it was off but still managed to clang so loud that I didn't sleep a wink the first night. We did ask the staff and they were wonderful about switching this rooms. The second room was clearly updated with modern heating baseboards. That said the beds weren't as comfortable as our first room, very lumpy. In the bathroom had black mold all around the tub. Lastly, the reservation says that there are breakfast pastries downstairs this is a bit of a white lie. It was Pop-Tarts in their foil wrappers hostess honey buns and chocolate donuts. Honesdale does have several cute bakeries that they could easily have solicited real pastries from and that's what I would have expected.

I like to the location and the fact that it was a historic hotel. The staff were incredibly accommodating about switching rooms when I had a poor night sleep due to their clanging radiators.

The furnishings were pretty shabby, and three of the five lamps didn't work. The main problem was the noise level from the bar and the stairwell. Probably room 201 should be left vacant on weekends, because it really was a significant drawback.

The staff was super-accommodating and friendly. The restaurant food was tasty. Excellent martini! We enjoyed the quirky feel of this historic hotel.

It was not the room I booked and paid for. I was supposed to get a 2 bedroom suite with a kitchen in the new renovated room. I called before and after booking to make sure and was told I had that room only to get there and not have it. Manager was nasty and said do you need a kitchen. I said I paid for a kitchen and then was asked if I wanted to cancel reservation. Which would leave me and my daughter with no where to sleep. The second bedroom was a closet no windows and the small AC unit didn’t make second room cool. The bathroom was so tiny and the water in the shower went from burning hot to cold about 15 times in a 7 minute shower. Then they didn’t clean the room even though I put the sign on the door. I had to ask 3 times before they went and just threw blanket over bed and put fresh towels. The WiFi was also so bad I could not get on most sites I tried and very slow. The manager gave me 10% off which was not enough. For $250.00 a night it’s more like a $99.00 a night 2 bedroom suite. Very disappointing but the pierogies next-door were the highlight. Dark and dingy.

Dirty, smelt of cigarettes, broken pullout couch, water was brown, toilet backed up into shower and leaked onto the floor, door latch broken, no ac, when you laid in the beds you sank down into the middle, and the night front desk employee had to be under the influence as he was walking from the alley jumping around and flinging arms around. At first when he walked into the building, I thought he was a guest until he went behind the front desk asking if I was checking in. Environment was very uncomfortable and the stay just did not feel safe at all.
