How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewOnly the location
It was not the room I booked and paid for. I was supposed to get a 2 bedroom suite with a kitchen in the new renovated room. I called before and after booking to make sure and was told I had that room only to get there and not have it. Manager was nasty and said do you need a kitchen. I said I paid for a kitchen and then was asked if I wanted to cancel reservation. Which would leave me and my daughter with no where to sleep. The second bedroom was a closet no windows and the small AC unit didn’t make second room cool. The bathroom was so tiny and the water in the shower went from burning hot to cold about 15 times in a 7 minute shower. Then they didn’t clean the room even though I put the sign on the door. I had to ask 3 times before they went and just threw blanket over bed and put fresh towels. The WiFi was also so bad I could not get on most sites I tried and very slow. The manager gave me 10% off which was not enough. For $250.00 a night it’s more like a $99.00 a night 2 bedroom suite. Very disappointing but the pierogies next-door were the highlight. Dark and dingy.

Verified reviewIt was charming and the restaurant had really good food. Expensive but good. Nice staff.
The rooms need to be updated because the outlets aren’t working and none in the bathroom. Beds need to be replaced and rugs need to be replaced. And plumbing

Verified reviewthe whole concept. Key did not work unless you push the door in and then out , Bathroom was so small my husband had to bend to take a shower. Sink was in the middle of the room . Air conditioner was behind a curtain that you could not keep open for there was a building right next to it with a window . Definitely not worth what we paid , would never recommend it

Verified reviewNothing
Dirty, smelt of cigarettes, broken pullout couch, water was brown, toilet backed up into shower and leaked onto the floor, door latch broken, no ac, when you laid in the beds you sank down into the middle, and the night front desk employee had to be under the influence as he was walking from the alley jumping around and flinging arms around. At first when he walked into the building, I thought he was a guest until he went behind the front desk asking if I was checking in. Environment was very uncomfortable and the stay just did not feel safe at all.

Verified reviewThe queen size mattress was hard and lumpy. The hot water was scalding and once set with the cold would shut off resulting in cold water only.. There was a small bathroom sink, minus the stopper, and there was a gap between the sides of the sink; leaving no place to put toiletries…and if something fell of the side of the sink it would be difficult to retrieve it because of the narrow space between the sink and the wall. The closet did not have a bar to hang clothes, nor hangers. There was no dresser. Likes….the staff was friendly. The room was clean.
See above.
Sorry you did not like the Historic Hotel Wayne. We will have a look at how close the sink to the wall is....................

Verified reviewDinner was really good! Good restaurant on premises.
No elevator--lots of stairs.
Thanks for being a guest at the historic Hotel Wayne, which has been in continuous operation since 1827, almost 200 years. We do clearly represent that we do not have an elevator...but our staff is very happy to assist guests

Verified reviewQuaint attractive EXTERIOR.
Shabby room, shabby halls. Clean however. One hanger in small closet housing 3 window air conditioners. Shower controller ready to fall off hence water went from searingly hot to ice cold but unable to control with the loose handle. Bed only, no chair. As we were checking in, couple turned in keys saying they were paid up but leaving early nonetheless. Next couple ahead of us saw their room and told us to get out while we could - they however used booking.com and seemed unable to get out. Had we not used booking.com we would NOT have checked in. We won’t make that mistake again. We are done with booking.com.
This simply is not true. This guest, who had a confirmed and guaranteed reservation, came to our front desk before even checking in and told the desk clerk that their "plans" had changes and wished to cancel their reservation. The story about other guests is not true either. We informed the guest that we have a very liberal cancellation policy of 24 hours before arrival. So the guest was unhappy but nothing we could do.
