We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesWe reserved for 5 people and the 5th person was supposed to sleep on the pull out sofa. However it was not set up with linen and there was no linen to find in the condo. On the note on the fridge it said the sister lives on Maui and her business card was on the counter - but there was no business card. We called the owner and she said we have to deal with it for the night (luckily we had a sleeping bag with us) and slept straight on the mattress. She said a house keeper would bring the linen the day after (we are staying 3 nights). At 1 pm I send a message to see when the house keeper will come. No answer. An hour later we called - no answer. We texted and called again at 5 pm - no answer. So no sheet the second night neither. Another issue was that we originally booked one night (non-refundable) and wanted to add a night in each end of that booking. We tried to get the host to add the extra nights and asked if it would be cheaper. Slow response (a few months). She said in the end that booking.com would be in contact with us due to all those extra fees with 3 separate bookings vs 1 booking. We finally managed to get in contact with booking.com and they said since the host had not separated the cleaning fee, then there was no extra charges.
Beautiful ocean view where we saw a few turtles. View from living room and one bedroom too. Nicely decorated condo. Happy to have laundry facilities. Close to beaches and trails (by car). Great to have 4 beach chairs.

United StatesFor a price of $442 for the night, you would expect the basics to be taken care of like providing linen for all beds, communicating with your guest, and solving issues fast. Imagine checking into a luxury hotel for >$400/night and there were no sheets on the bed, and the reception says, "Unfortunately, you just have to deal with it" (which is literally what she said to us). We accepted the mistake for the first night, and expected the mistake to be remedied in the morning, but nothing happened the next day - no communication and no apology. She never contacted us again, and it took her 2 nights to remedy the situation! So, our daughter had to sleep on a mattress with no sheets for 2 of the 3 nights we were there, and we had to use our own sleeping bag (on hot nights in an apartment with no AC). We had to call Booking.com support to escalate after the first night, and then before our 3rd night, we found out that the host refused to compensate for the mistake. It felt like she was just exploiting the non-refundable booking, where guests to Hawaii have no other recourse. And her actions show that she takes no accountability for making it a nice stay for her guests. She is in Iowa and she posted a paper on the fridge that said her sister in Maui could help out if there were issues, but that apparently is just false. She must not care about bad reviews, because other people might not run into the same issue as us, so the good reviews (due to location/view) will make up for the bad reviews. Furthermore, the TV required a software update which requires the original remote to accept the update, but it was nowhere to be found. And, without the original remote to the smart TV, it also meant that we could not cast our own content onto the TV either, so we could not use our own Netflix/Disney+ accounts and enjoy a movie together as a family.
Too bad the host is non-responsive and not willing to own up to her own mistake of not providing us sheets for 2 days. The condo is cute and has great views and we enjoyed the easy access by car to Kikekili Beach, Kapalua Bay Beach and Honolua Beach, which truly was amazing snorkling spots.

United StatesContinued from previous review. We were not provided linen for the pull out sofa for the 5th person that we have booked for. It clearly states this is a place for 6 people and linen is included. The first day we called at arrival and the host promised to get it delivered by the house keeper for the second night. We called her, we texted her and messaged via the app. No response at all. Booking.com tried to reach her, no response. And we did not get linen for the second night. So one person had to sleep on a bare mattress with no cover. The house keeper finally came at 5.45 pm before the 3rd night and unlocked the cupboard with the sheet. Still no message from the host. Booking.com reached her and said she will not compensate for this and the house keeper came with the sheets (yes for the last night of 3). Based on this experience I will not recommend this place. You cannot trust the host. I am fine with a mistake happens, but then you try to fix it and you communicate with people and compensate for the bad experience. This did not happen with this host.
This is the second night of 3 - please read the previous review

SpainThe apartment is a 10/10, but the building and its neighbors are rude. We tried to go to the pool 12 minutes before it was supposed to open, and they started yelling at us. We felt controlled at all times. Smoking is not allowed in that building (I understand). Furthermore, since it's located downstairs on the street, they wouldn't let us either. So, we had to stay on the other side of the road. In short, if you want peace and quiet, this isn't the place for you. And if you're a smoker, even less so. Hawaii is very strict, but even more so in this building. Because it's legal, I gave it a good rating because the apartment is amazing, but if I had known this, I wouldn't have booked.
The appartment was amazing, good sea views, the beds were great and the owner very nice. The location was also very good. For us the appartment is 10/10.
