How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNot much
I'm handicapped and I thought our room was in the casino, no it was way over across the street. There were to many stairs and walking to get were you want. It was dark down in the casino. The room was ok but one light was flickering off and on. The air wasn't working good, kept turning off 😕. I wanted to go back to the casino but the stairs the walk was awful so I stayed in my room, felt like I was in jail. I was limited. Cost of a bottle of water was $10 wow. I will stop. I will say to I didn’t ask for king beds but som how it said king. The lady was rude. And she said it would cost more to stay in the casino. I had two rooms.

Verified reviewGigantic room, very friendly and helpful staff, location is convenient to downtown Reno and the park along the Truckee River. We opted for the breakfast plan, which turned out to be quite nice.
Furnishings seemed dated, and our room felt a big dark. The A/C was quite loud. The parking garage is located away from the hotel.

Verified reviewThe staff were all very friendly and helpful
I wanted to self park my car, but the streets were blocked off for an event, so I had to valet my car. The valet guys were all really great and helpful, but I didn’t expect to spend more money just to park my car. The AC was difficult and never seemed to cool down the room enough. It was stuck on 75-79, which was too warm for a 96 degree day.
Dear Erin, Thank you so much for the high rating! It's wonderful to know that our friendly team members left a positive impression on you and that you had a great time with us overall. Our maintenance team will be sure to look into your concerns regarding the A/C and make any improvements where necessary. We hope you will consider joining us again soon for an even better stay. Verified reviewThe view was cool i guess
Just about everything. 1 night cost $400 for a family and dog. our shower didn't work and after driving for 11 hours and unpacking the kids and dog i was ready for a hot shower, unfortunately the shower was leaking horribly, they offered to switch us to other room ( which they didn't even have so idk why they offered) we declined because again tired. wish they could of waived the dog fee or some sort of fees from our stay instead they gave us complimentary breakfast cards which we didn't use because we ordered dinner the night before and for the price it tasted awful. I ended up throwing mine away. also didn't like that there was an event going on and the road to our hotel was slightly blocked off so we drove in circles and then was told we had to pay for valet due to the event or go all the way around. this hotel wasn't for us and we wont be booking again.
Dear Michaela, Thank you for taking a moment to share this important feedback. We'd like to extend our sincere apologies for your disappointing experience. We can understand how frustrating it must have felt to arrive to plumbing concerns, especially after such a long travel day. While we hoped the complimentary breakfast vouchers would offer you and your family a bit of ease, we're sorry to hear our offerings were not to your liking. Please know that we also regret any inconvenience you encountered with the event nearby and how this affected your ability to navigate parking. Thank you again for sharing your perspective. We appreciate your patronage and wish you well as your travels continue. Sincerely, Ramon Villegas - General Manager

Verified reviewQuieter than casino hotels, low key ambiance and staff, staff not rude or so money oriented as others, very helpful,
$20 daily for valet was a ripoff ... 2 moves over 4 days ... they only had to park my car once (at initial check in) and bring it to the door on the day I checked out .... Lot was open ground lot with no security ... Also toilet paper was very thin lol
It would be our pleasure to welcome you back to Whitney Peak Hotel! We are glad you appreciated our peaceful atmosphere and professional service team. However, we regret your disappointment with our valet parking fee and bathroom amenities. We value your feedback and the opportunity to reflect and see where improvements can be made! Verified reviewThe restaurant was a bright spot. Huge portions, delicious food, and friendly staff. The restaurant was great value for the money, especially breakfast and Happy Hour.
I travel extensively, almost always giving high marks in reviews. Unfortunately, this hotel seemed to me like a 1970s hotel that had gotten a trendy face-lift over a much older structure. My room had persistent faded smoke smells during my week-long stay, which were mostly remedied housekeeping spraying with very strong air freshener. One evening, the smell was something other than cigarettes. Further, some things in my room were visibly dusty and remained so even after housekeeping visits. Sleep quality was spotty as there was a small blinking light (possibly a smoke detector) that disrupted sleep, and the pillows seemed to trigger my allergies.. The building also seemed to have broader issues beyond my room; the rock climbing area needed an AC rebuild, as it was notably warm, and staff remarked on the issue. It seemed other guests had larger issues. I overheard another guest complaining about it having reached 90 degrees in her room, and another guest at the same time who stated he felt patronized by the manager for some dispute relating to money. Unlike the rest of the staff, who were nearly all exemplary, the manager did seem inauthentic when dealing with that guest. Although the vast majority of the staff was excellent, especially in the restaurant, I feel that the place may have management challenges. With the exception of the restaurant, I'm surprised that the place gets away with charging what it does and that it is using the Hilton name.

Verified reviewThe restaurant was nice; good food, good portions
We arrived by train, with lots of luggage, five hours before check-in. The first thing the woman at the desk told us was we could not check in before 3… even though the hotel was nearly empty. Then she asked if we were okay being in a pet room; we said no, and then she told us she couldn’t move us to another. On another note, this is a basically nice, modern hotel in the midst of a horrible neighborhood. Shuttered businesses and cheap shoddy casinos surround it. Homeless people everywhere. A horrible place. We stayed in Reno because it seemed a good stop along our cross-country train ride — next time we’ll stay on the train until Truckee. Reno is a pit.
Dear Thomas, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're glad the restaurant left a positive impression, but we understand how a long travel day followed by a rigid check-in process can set the wrong tone. It's disappointing to hear that the early part of your arrival felt unaccommodating, especially when you were just looking for a bit of flexibility after arriving with luggage in hand. We also hear your concerns about the surrounding area and understand how that shaped your overall impression. While we can’t change everything outside our doors, we do our best to offer a space that feels like a safe, comfortable pause in the middle of a journey. We appreciate your honesty and hope the rest of your travels brought a better experience. Sincerely, Ramon Villegas - General Manager
