How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewA lovely Hacienda surrounded by countryside and pine trees. Brandy is a magnificent host - nothing is ever too much. The rooms are quirky and spacious, the games room is fun and the swimming pool is wonderful. Picturesque, romantic and very peaceful. The food was delicious and good choice of wines too.
Thank you for the wonderful review Marijke! It was certainly a pleasure to have you both with us, though we wish it could have been for longer! Thank you for making Pinos de la Quebrada part of your journey in Uruguay ❤️ Safe travels and we hope to be able to host you again in the future. Brandi & Marco

Verified reviewWhat a fantastic gem!! Everything about this inn / ranch is amazing! The owners, Brandi and Marco, are kind, professional, and friendly. They took the time to have in-depth conversations with me, which I thoroughly enjoyed!! The inn looks like it is straight from a movie set…a huge ranch house with a chapel and tower give it a very charming feel. The whole property is very serene and quiet, and is reached by driving through a pine forest. The farm animals add to the lovely atmosphere. Brandi is a wonderful cook; she made me a very tasty dinner and the breakfast was bountiful. My room was huge! It was a very clean and relaxing space.
I LOVED everything about my stay at this lovely property! If I had known what it was truly like, I would have booked my nights.
Thank you for your kind review Shannon! It was a pleasure to host you and we wish it could have been for longer. Thank you for sharing such wonderful conversation with both Marco and I. We thoroughly enjoyed your company and tales of your travels! Enjoy the rest of your time in Uruguay and we hope to see you again! Brandi

Verified reviewIf you are looking for tranquility in a rural setting, this is the place to stay. The rooms are individually furnished and spacious and very clean. The host was very friendly and attentive. You do not have to eat at Pinos de la Quebrada, but you would miss out on the host’s fabulous cooking! Food and drink are very reasonably priced. We wished we had stayed longer.

Hospitality from the owner
Thank you for your review Robert; however I do not feel your claims of noise are warranted or that you feel Marco and I were inhospitable. Your reference to the noise was concerning Uruguayan guests, who you referred to as “foreigners”, who were talking after dinner in the common area. We have a strict “no noise” policy after 10pm and this occurred well before that curfew. As I explained at the time, the hotel is for all paying guests to enjoy within the boundaries and policies of the posada and we weren’t going to require other guests to adhere to your demands. We also discovered our shower head destroyed in the bathroom, which you neglected to notify us about and we did not charge you for the damage. Nor did we report you to Booking for guest misconduct, which was within our right. We pride ourselves on giving all of our guests a warm and welcome environment, but we do not accept or tolerate insensitivity and rudeness towards other patrons.

Verified reviewRafael greeted us and was a wonderful host. The property is beautiful. The first 2 nights we stayed in the Master bedroom that was very large and had great atmosphere. We enjoyed the pool and Rafael helped us set up horseback riding and a hike in the nearby national Park.
The roads to the estancia and to the park are not paved and could be quite bumpy.

Verified reviewThe entire setting is wonderful - like an oasis in the rolling green hills of the endliess grasslands the Estancia is located in a little valley within a marvelous pine tree forest. Picturesque, unique and an invitation to forget about time and obligations of the world outside the oasis.
Everything was perfect - From breakfast to conversations with the guests and the well travelled landlords - Three thumbs up from our side

Verified reviewThis was a beautiful set of adobe buildings and terraces around a pool. It is far from the nearest town so the lunch or dinner option is helpful. you can get glasses of wine too. Owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. They will schedule kayaking, horseback riding adventures if you wish.

Verified reviewThe accommodation, its facilities and surroundings are the reasons for staying here. Attractions in the local area are limited so we just enjoyed the beautiful scenery, the animals and birds, the night sky, the swimming pool and lying in a hammock in glorious summer weather. Food great (limited choice) and alcohol available.
It was perfect - if you are looking to be somewhere surrounded by attractions and activities it might not be for you. If you want a relaxing break from all of that.....stay here.

Verified reviewThe sound of the birds is all that you can hear at this tranquil and extremely comfortable estacion. There are good walks, a nice pool where you can relax and even a games room. It’s great place to birdwatch and view the marvellous sunsets. We stayed four nights and were sorry to leave.
