How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI truly enjoyed my stay at the Caravelle Hotel on St. Croix. It is my go-to hotel for accommodations whenever I travel to St. Croix for work. The hotel provides a quiet comfortable environment for rest and relaxation. My stay was exceptional, and room was spacious, it had a desk and other amenities but, I like that I was able to sit at a desk to get some additional office work completed. Notably, there is a restaurant on the property, which is very convenient. Unfortunately, I did not get to dine at the restaurant during my stay but, I have eaten at the restaurant during in the past. The food is great, and they have great menu options. Lastly, the Caravelle staff is professional, helpful, and informative especially the front desk agents. I was a little worried about getting stuck on the island because Hurricane Erin was traveling and expected to come near the Virgin Islands. The front desk agent, Aisha, however, assured me that the hotel was equipped to provide any necessary essentials, safety, care, and continued electricity so that guests are cared for and comfortable during a storm, if required. She certainly made me feel at ease, fortunately I made it home before the weather came.
I do not have any bad experiences or dislikes to report about this property.

Verified reviewIt was in a good location to things that we needed and we couldn’t complain about that
When we checked in our initial room was nowhere near ready but Hillarine was great and moved us to a room that I thought was where we would initially be.

Verified reviewThe two women that were at the reception/check in desk were amazing. They were friendly, warm and welcoming.
The only thing I didn't like was being overcharged for my taxi getting from the airport. Going back, I left with a group and paid half as much.

Verified reviewThe location was perfect with a great view of the harbor & boardwalk. It was surprisingly quiet for the location. We were able to purchase a parking permit for our 3 day stay which was well worth it. The staff was very pleasant & helpful. Food, excursions & shopping all just steps away.
The elevator was broken so running up & down 3 flights of stairs did get old. Out overhead fan didn't work, but they were more than happy to move us to another room.

Verified reviewIt was in a nice area. Alot of history around.
A.C. kept cutting off for a min back on for 2 and back off, so it's hard to sleep with it going back and forth thought it would be a little bigger but it was good I would stay again but you really need to have a car.

Verified reviewSo much to love here! The location was perfect! It was right on the boardwalk and the view could not have been better. Sandi the manager was EXCEPTIONAL! She was always willing to help in anyway she could. Also Hillarene clearly takes great pride in the property. Geranimo was kind and knowledgeable. The rooms themselves look in real life exactly as they look online. The bathroom was clean and looked renovated. AC was cold. Water was hot! And the pillows! OMG the pillows were heavenly. Loved the comfy chairs in the rooms and common areas and the renovated pool was fantastic. There was so much that was perfect!
We really had to work to get our room cleaned regularly. When it was cleaned they did a good job but they basically only cleaned when we requested it, which was disappointing. The AC leaked a bit but that was no biggie. Heard some people talk about the roosters. They were not a problem. They added to the ambience.

Verified reviewThe room was nice but pillows was way too soft neck needed support.
What I didn’t like is I had a connected room, with unruly guest cussing and loud and drunk and had me up all night.. Then they tried to open the connected room door talking about need to go to the bathroom.. Very disappointed
