How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The showers were not the greatest very low on pressure then didn’t work at all there was no tea or coffee to make a cuppa and no sugar

Verified reviewThe location is amazing and the staff were very helpful. We arrived quite late and the communication was excellent.
The room was not super clean, bathroom a bit moldy and smelly. The bed is really really bad. Just wooden planks pushing into your body, we had to sleep the other way around (head at feet-end) to have a somewhat comfortable night.

Facilities are old, the shower gel smells like strawberry cold syrup, the sound insulation is very poor, and the most important - my towel has really heavy pet smells!!

In the instruction we sent you mentioned if you're not satisfied with the room in cleanliness please let us know immediately so we could send a maid coming up firstly to check and secondly to re-cleaning the room or change new towels for you. besides, maybe we use the detegent that leaving you that kind of smell but we'll check it again. unfortunately we haven't got any texts all calls from you with all you need while staying that leaded you leave the feedback like this...

Room 301 are noisy due to club operation at night. Room 302 aircond not cold and bed too soft

The club will be closed every night at 10pm and it's the working time of them just for the activity at night from 7-10pm few hours to serve the tourist around our neighborhood. other guests feel okay with that as this is completely something we cannot control and they strictly comply with the operating hours. unfortunately you haven't texted us about the aircon so we could guide you to use it precisely as it is used normally and we've have checked before you checked in. about the bed, it's a standard one that fits most of our guest so we have no idea how to change it, we even added a topper on top of the bed.

Really terrible. Not like the picture. Old equipment, smelly bathroom, uncomfortable bed. Bad attitude of hotline staff. Electricity broke on the second night and we had to move to another room. Staff did not inform us about road repairs in front of the homestay. Very noisy. This is the second time I have stayed at Sazi Home Hanoi, but this time we were really disappointed. We will never stay here again as it is not worth the money we paid.
You booked our place 2 times means not terrible as your feedback. We tried our best to support you, even midnight. It's homestay and everything is self service. We changed you another bigger / more expensive room immediately at midnight when your room electricity has problem and you don't wanna wait a few minutes to fix it. We told you clearly 'the bigger room was booked tomorrow so please change back your original room in tmr morning. And you did agree about this deal. But in tomorrow, you likes bigger rooms, don't wanna change back your room when the next guest coming. You told us much bad words and always asked us have to service you as a God. We even offer you refund if you don't wanna stay at our place but you didn't accept, you still wanna stay here. We're so sorry our service can't be good enough for you.

Verified reviewgood location for long walks about town lots of restaurants coffee shops many places to visit in 15-20 min walk. felt safe walking around late at night friendly people about. the host was really good and accommodating to us about arriving early. the place was very clean and really comfortable beds and sheets. large bedroom with lots of storage if you stay longer. morning coffee right down stars. shower is a bit odd but that’s typical for there. we enjoyed our 6 day stay despite a few issues.
the awful sewage smell in the washroom when you flush toilet or take a shower. it is really noisy in the bedroom directly over the coffee shop which is open from 7am-10 pm non stop you hear the coffee grinder for every fresh cup they make and the people talking like they are in your room. but 10pm- 7 am very quiet. if your a heavy sleeper or early riser it may not bother you. if the toilet issue gets resolved then I would say it would have been a more pleasant stay.

Verified reviewThe apartment is bright, spacious, has all the amenities needed. The wardrobe is a bit in the way, too close from the bed. The bed is comfortable. The staff is very helpful and reactive.
The only concern is that on w.e. there is very very loud music from 7:30 pm to 10:30-11:00 pm.

On the day of arrival, the host informed about the unavailability of the booking and switched me to another location. The new location faced the street directly with loud noise and less security. When complained about the noise, the host offer an alternative option, but I already lost 3 nights of sleep. Apartment was not well ventilated and bathroom had mold. At that point, I moved out to another hotel without any form of reimbursement for the rest of the unused booking.
