How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewI had a very clean, spacious room with a comfortable bed. I also liked the location - it felt local, but I was able to walk to the tourist areas. There were a couple of good restaurants and a good juice bar nearby.

Verified reviewEverything is new, location of the homestay is very near and accessible to many places in district 1. Pharmacy , coffee shops and convenience stall are all a stone throw away. Rooms are spacious too. Property is also very clean.

Disorganised, would need proper management. There was no option to pay by card, they forgot that we needed to pay - we told them before we left that we still have to pay the bill, so when we were rushing for the airport they said it was cash only and we had to find some ATM ... Stressful and could be avoided if payment would be taken upfront. Also rooms weren't ready for us, would also need a good cleaning... in general a good place but disorganised

The biggest one is the cockroaches Inside of cabinets and fridge was very dirty Bathroom curtain was dirty You enter a passcode to access your room which is very insecure If you go home too late you have to call and hope they wake up because they close the metal curtain Very bad insonorisation We asked for a refund upon seeing the cockroaches but the owner refused and wanted to give us another room with more cockroaches Owner prefers money over client satisfaction
First, you inspected the room for cleanliness before checking in. If you didn't like it, we couldn't force you to stay. You and your wife used the room and later reported finding cockroaches. We handled the situation immediately. We offered you a FREE upgrade to a higher-priced room than the one you originally booked. Every guest is given a unique code upon arrival, ensuring security. You also threatened to leave a bad review so that we couldn't continue our business. You are a liar and we know we are not the first victims of yours. I believe Booking.com has contacted you, and you are the one who understands the issue best. I hope other places won't become your victims like we did

Verified reviewNot much to be honest. Room lock system was good. Young man at the property who looked like a student was managing the property. He did try his best to help where he could.
Location wasn't as good as what others have put down so I have my doubts if reviews are fake. Toilet seat was broken Ants on the work top and in the kettle Did not get hot water for shower on a 1st night. I took videos of ants but unable to upload. Only reason we stayed 2nd night was due to having only day and a half in HCM and did not have energy to again call cab and Search and go to another hotel
Dear customer, We’ve discussed with you about this already the days you were here. First, you have edited from 2nights stayed to 1 night. But then you’re still decided to stay another night. If you don’t like our homestay, you can stay another places but you chosen to stay here for the next day. Not we didn’t support you but you keep asking for DISCOUNT!!! You keep asking us for a DISCOUNT. How can we offer a discount when you book through Booking? When we don't offer one, you get upset and try every possible way to get a discount. If you don't like it, you can cancel the booking, and we have already accepted that. But you continue to stay and demand a discount. Before making a reservation, you can check the location and look it up on Google. Even when checking out, you still want to use the room for free. This is ridiculous. We are not deceiving anyone.
