We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

VietnamAlthough it’s a bit far from Sapa center, I got to immerse myself in a cozy and green space. Mai’s family welcomed me so warmly, and every meal was delicious. Truly a place worth considering for travelers, especially families. Must-try: homemade mulberry jam & mulberry wine, plus fresh banana cake.

SwitzerlandIt was a wonderful experience staying at Mai’s home. Beautiful house, peaceful localization, warm and welcoming atmosphere. We decided really spontaneously to book the homestay on the day we arrived to SaPa. Mai contacted us shortly after booking and helped us to find a taxi to the location (local person). The way takes about 30-40 minutes. Mai helped us also to organize a trekking with a lokal guide, Zre Zre, on the following day. And Zre Zre made it really amazing experience. She took us to the less touristic places, adjusted the difficulty level (manageable for 8 years old and still fun for 14 years old and the parents), told us a lot about Hmong people, their life and tradition. It absolutely surpassed our expectations.

AustriaThis place is amazing. Super nicely build out of old, recycled wood. Architecture is great. Our Cabin was compact and super cozy. The wall panels are hinged and can be opened to let more light in, nice touch. Staff was super friendly and helpfull, they also cooked really nice food for us.

SwitzerlandThis Homestay was the best one in our whole month of travelling Vietnam. Hien and Mai are just amazing hosts and they make you feel welcome immediatly. They help you with everything and we can really recommend having dinner with them, because the food ist the best and most authentic we ate on our trip. The Homestay it self is located about 30min away from Sapa and it has the most beautiful garden and view. It invites you to chill and just enjoy the nature, but you can also go trekking or visit Sapa. Overall we loved it there so much and we would recommend everyone to go and stay with Mai's familiy and Hien at Chapi Dreamy Home. It's just the best!

United StatesThe only downside was the weather for me. My only complaint was the bed heater. It didn't feel that mine worked great and my first night, when it was 39 degrees Fahrenheit, was a little difficult to sleep due to that. But as it got warmer outside it was much more comfortable. If you visit during the cold months, just make sure to bring plenty of clothes to stay warm!
I truly loved the warmth and comfort Ms. Lam and her family brought. I got to stay a couple nights during the Lunar new year so although I did not get to meet the owners, it was still an incredible experience. As a young, solo, female traveler, I knew I wanted to stay with a family I could get to know and learn more about Vietnam from. This stay was so memorable because of how welcoming, kind, and compassionate they are. What I loved the most was the cozy comfort of the home, the decor, fireplace, and of course Ms. Lams sisters cooking skills:)

NetherlandsDefinitely the most memorable stay in our three months travel. The family makes you feel welcomed. You are a part of their daily life. The house high in the mountains is beautiful and you can make great hikes from there. It lies in a small and quiet ethnic village surrounded by rice fields. Because it is high in the mountains it is not so touristy as in the valley or Sapa. Mai made it very easy to get there.

We loved this place from the first moment with the warm welcome from Mai and her family. Everything was perfect, they also helped us to bring our baggages from Sapa to their village, organizing two days tour with local guide. the dinner at home was really tasty and ambient is cozy. We will suggest this stay for everyone who wants to bring back home unforgettable memories from Sapa.

United KingdomA little more explanation at the start of where things are and how the place works would have been really helpful.
A very quiet and beautiful spot in the remote mountains above Sa Pa. Tom and co were very accommodating and we had a really peaceful time just enjoying the surroundings. They cooked us delicious meals (it is a 30 minute drive to the shops at Sa Pa or there is a local store in the village with fruit veg and meat so you need to go prepared or take them up on meals). They also took us up the mountain above the house which is a pretty special hike - steep then incredible views.

Czech RepublicNo heating (but this seems standard in Sapa homestays?) - The prices are slightly above other homestays or restaurants, but you do get what you pay for :) - 30min drive from Sapa, but hence it's away from the crowds! They pick you up/drop off for extra charge (100-250k VND)
Mai is an excellent hostess, you can tell she gives from the heart and that makes all the difference in a homestay. The house is beautifully lived-in and this sense of home was the highlight of my week in Vietnam. - Excellent feast of a dinner with multiple dishes & good quality meat - Beautiful home with cosy fireplace - Authentic experience of Vietnamese countryside - Modern bathroom facilities - Fantastic English skills Note that if you stay in the main house there's only a curtain around each bedroom, so if you're sensitive to sound or like more privacy, choose the detached cottage. I liked the authenticity of staying in the main house.

United KingdomThe location was perfect for me but its worth being aware that it is about 30 minutes by bike from Sapa, and there aren't any shops or restaurants nearby
I had an absolutely lovely stay at Chapi Dreamy Homestay. The house is beautiful and clean, in a very peaceful and quiet location in the mountains with amazing views (when the weather is clear!). Mai and her family are absolutely lovely and speak great English so it's fun to spend time with them, especially playing with the very sweet and intelligent children! There were also 8 puppies, 2 dogs, a friendly cat and lots of chickens so it's great if you're an animal lover but they're easy to avoid if you aren't. If you're looking for an escape from the bustle of Sapa and a bit of peace and quiet I would highly recommend staying here :)

United StatesEverything was perfect for us during our stay!
We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the family that lovingly opens their home to guests. It's a large home built with reclaimed materials with a large kitchen, fireplace and upstairs bedrooms. The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay, the meals (which are optional) are delicious and burst with local flavor, and the kids are outgoing and fun to interact and play with. The whole family speaks English, which makes conversation and planning for transportation or tours easy. When we stayed they had 10 1-month old puppies that were absolutely adorable, as well as a friendly cat and many chickens in the yard. All of the pets kept to themselves and were just fun to watch. If you are looking for an authentic homestay in a beautiful mountain setting, this is the ideal place to stay.
