How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Located in Old Quarter area. Close to the train station and several traditional spotlights. For those looking for vegan frienldy options, next to the hostel is a restaurant with vegan friendly options and affordable price.

Staff were mostly difficult. Some beds only had foot lockers for storage, making access inconvenient.

I thought it was quite expensive compared to some other hostels I've stayed at. Breakfast was ok but rather basic. I had to pay extra to store my bicycle. The dorm felt quite small and cramped. Not much room to put stuff near the bed (e.g. a little shelf would be nice). The bathroom is in the dorm, which means you have to wait if someone is using it. I personally prefer shared bathrooms outside of the rooms.
I liked that breakfast was included. The location was pretty central. The place was clean. The owner spoke good English and was helpful. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked well.

There's a large crack between the beds and the wall. My phone fell through it. I also found a piece of garbage in it when I went to sleep.
Breakfast was fine, great value for price, location is amazing.

We had a really nice Stay at Hanoi Lucky Hostel. Beds were very comfortable, rooms were clean, there was a lot if diffrent options for breakfast :) Definately recommend staying here! Its really close to all the good spots in Hanoi!! Staff was very helpful and friendly I would stay here again!

Only one toilet between 8 people in the dorm. Pillow a bit too soft, maybe provide 2.
Curtain beds, individual fans in dorm beds. Clean room and bath room. Helpful staff, good breakfast. Great location!

Great place for stay in Hanoi old town. Near all high light point in Hanoi. Room was clean and comfortable The owner is very friendly and helpful She helped us and supported us before we arrived. She arranged the Airport pick up service for us, organize Ha Giang loops tour and Halong bay 2D1N with compared price. I would like recommended this place to anyone.

There was no common area and it generally wasn’t very social. When I first arrived the cupboard inside my bunk was filthy and I had to request it be cleaned (there was something that looked like blood inside). The reception staff was generally lovely but wasn’t massively apologetic about this. The bathroom inside the dorm is also not a great design, the toilet was clean but the floor gets really dirty and could do with more toilets for the number of beds.
Excellent value. The bunk beds were well designed so there was a cub board inside the bunk, making it easy to access your stuff 😊 the room was relatively spacious and staff were generally friendly.

Friendly staff and good sized rooms. The beds are not the most comfortable but like that each bed is private with the each having curtains. Internet was great throughout and a good choice for breakfast. The staff were really helpful in booking trips, organising for laundry to be cleaned as well as printing off visas and boarding passes. Breakfast served 7am-9am, would have been good for it to be served for a little longer for those who want a lie in.
