Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe climb up to the 4th floor.
The staff are wonderful and helpful, and the location is right in the bustling Old Quarter.

GermanyJust the mattress, but I now know that that is standard in Vietnam, and you get used to it.
We had an excellent stay at Joye Hotel. The staff gave us a warm welcome and were always available with helpful advice and suggestions on tours and places to visit. Our room was spacious, clean, and included a balcony overlooking a busy street, which gave us a great sense of the city’s energy. The hotel’s location is perfect—just a short walk to the Old Quarter and for people watching in the busy street below. It can be loud at night, but that didn't bother us. Great value for money—we’d definitely stay here again!

United KingdomThe staff were really kind & helpful, made every effort to make it a good experience for me as a solo female traveller. And the location was excellent - super central and close to the bus stops that take you out to other towns (Ha Long, Ha Giang etc).

United KingdomOn our first night we were given a room on the top floor 5th I think and there was no lift , I'm a pensioner so it was hard going , glad they moved us after that .
The location was great , right in the centre of the old quarter on a busy street . We stayed for 4 nights in two rooms the first was on the top floor then they moved us down to the 3rd floor both rooms were comfortable, clean and very quiet being at the back of the building . The staff were very friendly and were always smiling and helpful .We will be returning to Hanoi so will stay there again if there is a room available.

MaldivesThere’s no lift. It’s on a very busy street, there’s a pub next to it, so a bit loud.
The staff were extra friendly, and very nice and helpful. The place seems renovated; and new. But still had the homely vintage feel to it.

United KingdomEverything was great
The place location is great. It is right at the Old Quarter and very easy to reach it from the Airport (we used bus 86). The area was a little bit more noisy until 23-24h and then it's become quieter. We stayed in room 201 which has a nice balcony a d the room size was massive. We are family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) and we felt very comfortable at the room and the place in general. We stayed there for 2 days and planning to return again in 2 weeks time.

CambodiaI arrived late at night, the hotel was locked but they put the number outside for me to call them. Yes, after I called them they opened the door but locked it immediately. It'd be nice if there's staff on standby as people may need to go out for food or drink at night and be able to get back to their room.
Location was the best

IndiaThe hotel doesn’t have a lift / elevator. My room was in 4th floor and was a little exhausted to go upstairs after a tiring day. Please ask for room in lower floor if you have elders / ppl with knee issue.

AustraliaIf you like walking up 4 sets of stairs to then have to walk back down them and let the staff know you aircon and lights are off for them.to tell you sorry they turn the power to the room off when not in use to then have to walk back up..never have i stayed somewhere they do this. Downright ridiculous (excuse was "some customers leave the aircon on" ' also whats the go with having to hand your key into the office everytime you want to leave the building? The doors are locked at 12am so when you want to come back into the hostel you have to knock on the door for someone to come? Another ridiculous thing. This hotel some strange ideas on how a hotel should be run
When the cleaner cleand the room she did a really great job

GermanyThe famous beer street is right outside so it is quite loud in the evenings and at night time. For me it was fine, but light sleepers might have issues with that. Also, there’s no elevator and the stairs are pretty steep so it might not be convenient for everyone.
I had a great stay here! The hotel matched my expectations completely: very convenient location and super helpful and friendly staff! The upper rooms are well equipped with all essentials and have a cute balcony with nice view. The whole time I felt very comfortable.

RussiaThe hotel is on the pub street, so in the evening you need to move through the noisiest street in the city to get home. Our room did not have a proper window, as the window was facing the wall of another house - but it turned out to be an advantage because it was quieter, The rooms with windows face the street and it's rather noisy, you will need ear plugs probably. Also, people STOP TALKING IN HOTEL STAIRCASES, everyone can hear your conversations.
This is a very nice. clean and small home-style hotel where there are two rooms on the floor and a long staircase to each level. It is definitely worth its price, very clean and quite authentic. Definitely not a chain hotel. The location is right in the old quarter and it's easy to walk to all the main attractions. Well, if you have had a lot of experience of walking in Vietnam, because the city is as crazy as any Vietnamese city - no sidewalks, millions of motorbikes and all that.
