How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified review“Wonderful place in the Old Quarter at the best price! The location is perfect—next to a park, a lake for morning walks, and two Japanese supermarkets. The street is full of tasty local food, cozy restaurants, and affordable salons and spas. The room is big and bright with a nice street view, private smoking corner, and a clean separate toilet. I loved the modern touches like the big TV and high-quality Bluetooth speaker. Mornings can be lively with food stalls downstairs, but it’s all part of the charm and convenience of staying here.”

Verified reviewJust the location (nearby a mall and a lake) even tough its around 20mins walking distance from the old quarter.
Above all: air quality. When we came in the room, it had a strong smell of mould, windows weren’t opened for quite long it seemed. There is also a humidifier but its not enough. Our clothes and things catched the smell. We really suffered thinking on breathing the air. We turned on the ac and fan and made it slightly better. 1. Entry to the property: there is a dark (no light) corridor shared with other properties. Then going upstairs looks also moldy. 2. General look: wall in the corridor look dirty and saw roaches on our way up to the room. Creepy look. 3. Bathroom is outside the room, so no privacy. Also quite dirty when we arrived. There was alot of water splashed on the toilet seat and the floor was wet. 4. Poor air quality: nothing dries in there! Water on the bathroom doesn’t dry in general. So always humid. And keeping the windows opened was a risk to get rats in the room. 5. Kitchen is dirty and (mould) stinky. we were told by the host to keep the window closed since rats can come in there’s the neighbours roof with wood and leafes perfect where rats can climb. I saw two crawling down there. 6. Bed sheets didn’t smell cleaned, they were dark blue and we still spotted hairs. We asked the host to change them and since we were not around we got them changed one day before we left.
Dear Eunice You stayed with us during days of heavy rain and high humidity. Because of this, the room may have been affected despite being fully equipped with air conditioning and an air purifier. As our house is located in a residential area, the walkway outside can be busy during local festivals – we kindly ask for your understanding. Regarding the bathroom, please note that it is completely private. Your comment about it not being private was incorrect. To prevent dampness and mold, we strongly recommend not drying clothes inside the bedroom. You are welcome to use our family’s dryer instead. Also, keeping doors open may cause security risks and allow insects to enter, as this is a tropical climate. Finally, we truly value your feedback and will continue to listen carefully to improve our service. Best regards, Tuong

Verified reviewVery nice big room with all amenities and kitchen space. Owner is around for any help when required. Bathroom was outside the room but with plenty of hot water and all facilities. It was not a problem for us. The area is also well located with local restaurants and cafes and very easy to navigate around. Thank you

Verified reviewTưởng, the owner, is very nice and accommodating. He was always willing to provide help when needed. He even went to buy a lemon squeezer when I asked if he had one. However, this didn't really make up for the disappointing rooming situation. It's important to know that there are two very different rooms available in this residence. I booked the cheapest one, thinking there was not that much difference, but the difference is consistent. The pictures are quite elusive. Tưởng is a photographer and can take very good shots. First, the room doesn't look at all as in the pictures (see pics attached). Second, the kitchen develops in the walkway on top of the stairway, and you will share it with him. He will be cooking right outside of your bedroom, which makes for very little privacy. He also lives in the room on the other side of the small walkway, which reduces privacy even more. The worst part is the bathroom, though! It is an open space behind the kitchen partially covered with fiberglass. I was in Hanoi during the cold season, and it was very uncomfortable to get out of the room to pee during the night or shower in the morning. I was there one month and ended up showering at a gym close to the apartment, where I had made a subscription. I adapt very easily to all sorts of situations, but for many, this would have been a nightmare! I definitely paid too much for what I got!
Ciao Maximilkiano,is Vietnamese Toufu i can show you how to cook it?i am very happy to share my cooking skill with you ( we shared kitchen) sometimes. you had good times in Ha Noi with your friends or our friendly neighbors in Old and Old Ha Noi area. I ‘m sorry for having unexpected inconvenience, but maybe it a a part of life when you experience shared space. I hope you continue to experience the culture of others localities. Also like some others i like to connect the natural space of bathroom and nature ( of course it s private bathrooms)..unfortunately you don’t like it. you may like a Self- contained and small space) . Thank you

Verified reviewHost was very nice. Affordable price.
On advertisement it was said that check out time was till 00:00 am so i thought late check-out was included in the price which is the main reason i chose this place. I paid additional 40% for late check out. Other than that it was good.
Thank you, hope to see you again

Verified reviewThe place is in a very good location. The host is very kind and helpful, and speak very good English. It has all the facilites needed and the wifi works very well.
The place has nothing to do with the pictures. The bathroom is outside the room and has only a plastic roof which let rain water get into the place. The common kitchen is not very clean.

Verified reviewThe location is good, the price is perfect, comfy bad, good internet,
The cleanliness, everything was quite dirty. A little bit noisy. Also, there is a common kitchen, shower, and toilet that are outside of apartments. So you have to get your pants on before going there, and it's god damn hot there.

Verified reviewWonderful host, lovely personal furnishings and decorations, spacious, view of the street life, access to plenty of eating and regular shops/supermarket and located outside of the Old Quarter. The walk into the lake and Old Quarter is not far and very interesting. I’ve stayed in Hanoi four times and have always chosen to be away from the tourist centre.
The apartment is located on a busy road and overlooks the traffic one floor below. As such it is noisy until about 11pm with the traffic resuming about 7am. So you can still get your regular sleep.

Verified reviewGood location, close to the old town, you can walk, but still far from the noise. The owner helped us arrange the trip by bus to Ninh Bing and he was very kind and helpful in a way, so we think he is a nice guy, but too relaxed for the owner.
We informed the owner about our arrival on time, but we waited for 30 minutes outside the building, in the end a vietnamese woman who stayed there in the other apartment helped us to collect the keys, the owner did not come. Most of all, we complain about the cleanliness of the apartment. The kitchen was unusable because all the utensils were quite dirty. There was hair in the bathtub. The whole apartment would have better potential, with adequate hygiene.

Verified reviewThis is a very well designed flat - stylish and airy and full of great plants... with a big bedroom and excellent facilities. The owner, Tuong Huy, is an artist with great taste and a worldly, cool and discreet but very helpful manner (also speaks excellent English and has lived around Europe). I still don't know Hanoi so well but so far I still prefer this neighbourhood for its local feel and convenience to all the other parts I've visited. (Huge shopping mall nearby if needed, but full of local restaurants and cafes and v few tourists - yet only a 25-min walk into the old quarter.) An excellent place to return to from the more manic parts of Hanoi.

Verified review• Beautifully decorated private apartment on lively, but not very noisy street. Paintings even in bathroom, stylish details, a lot of mirrors. Private art gallery atmosphere. Kitchen view on crossroad is everything! Real Hanoi city life through windows. • Friendly and helpful host. • Great location 10-15 min by foot to Hoan Kiem Lake, Old Quarter and other historical places. A lot of cafe, massage & shops near, no nightlife after 22:00, so you can peacefully sleep. • Ac & fans, big sunny personal bathroom with window, comfy bed, sofa, smart tv. • Cozy greenhouse style kitchen has table & chairs, big fridge, coffee maker, electric stove, kettle, a lot of dishes and cookware, adorable tea cups and bowls, fan and huge tropical plants. Nice sunny place to drink coffee and sit in front of opened window peacefully watching city life.
It was sad to leave, we wanted to stay more. It was like real home away from home!
