Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ItalyCommunication with staff is very limited and only via google translator. There is no bar like the one shown in the photo, but you can grab food outside and sit on the terrace.
The building is very nice, and what I liked most is that it is not one of the high-rise buildings that have been built or are under construction in Sa Pa. It is centrally located and easy to reach the city centre. On google maps you have to look for "Hillside Sapa"

AustraliaThings did not work in the room * My door did not lock * PowerPoints did not work, so could not boil the kettle * The bathroom sink did not drain properly * The bathroom always smelt like sewerage * The address was difficult to find, my taxi dropped me off in the wrong location * It is located on a very narrow, steep road, but not too far from the main train station
The water was hot and the people were helpful, but they spoke very little English

GermanyWhen it rains, the room can get a little damp, so be aware of that.
Quite, but still pretty central and the cosiest, cleanest room we had in 6 weeks of Vietnam. The staff's English wasn't the best, but that's not a problem because they were absolutely friendly and made it possible for us to check in late in the night. Quick responses and - once again - super friendly. We also loved the cat and the whole atmosphere of the place. (Apperently, it's a pretty new hotel that is run by a few local ethnic minority women, which is super cool, I think) Also a suprise was that all the switches, power outlets, doors and the shower and toilet worked perfectly. We had different experiences in nearly every other hotel/hostel. :) The view from the terrace was awesome, even with clouds hanging in the mountains. We would love to come back again.

Vietnam- Staff is unprofessional, no daily room clean unless leaving the key at desk - Room is basic. - We rented a bike during our stay, from the hotel. There was no parking place and everyone left bikes in front of the hotel. For few first nights, nothing happened. Then for last night, suddenly our bike disappeared. The staff immediately blamed and threw us under the bus without checking thoroughly. Then, after several arguments and blaming us for not taking the responsibility of having the bike lost in front of the hotel when the hotel had no parking place, and everyone had to leave bikes in front of it, it turned out their vendor took back the wrong bike. On the contrary, we had paid in full already, but we still chose to stay to resolve with them, showing our willingness to solve the issues together. After calling us names, they tried to say sorry for not responding better to the situation but it had become unresolvable.

United StatesThe weather was very cold when we were here and the place doesn’t have a heater. Hot water lasts about 2 minutes so no hot shower. First room we stayed in didn’t have a proper door so you could feel a draft coming in from outside. They were doing renovations the whole time we were staying so we were woken at 7am with nail guns and air compressors right next door/outside the room. WiFi was extremely spotty. The address listed does not help with finding the place- type hillside sapa into google maps to find it if you do choose to stay here. Bed was comfortable though, and they did give us a heated blanket.
