It was one of those things potentially but there was a corporate event that did spoil our first couple of days. Whilst the hotel did compensate us a bit in the end, it was hard work and not quite the outcome we had understood to be agreed. I would hope this is rare, I’m sure it is, and it doesn’t take anything away from how good the hotel is. Perhaps in low season they understandably want to maximise revenue but they could have been more transparent at the start before taking full payment which complicated things given their relationship with Bookjng.com. On booking future travellers could just ask for transparency if this is a concern.

We took a decision to firstly visit the islands on a bigger trip and then to stay on one of the higher end hotels. Everything about the hotel delivered in terms of quality, location to the centre, and service. Views from our room balcony, the pool and the Sunset Lounge bar were spectacular.

When we asked for a late checkout I think the price was a bit too much for just two extra hours.

Really fancy hotel in Con Dao. You can arrange any activity from the reception. Pool and breakfast are amazing

It can be a little noisy depending on who stays next to you and around the pool, but the hotel team will do their best to accommodate any requests. For example, when the hotel was less full they agreed to move me to a different room in a quieter area of the property which was much appreciated.

This is one of the better large hotels for sure. Really helpful and friendly staff, clean facilities and comfortable spacious bedrooms, good on-site food and breakfast buffet. Big pool!

Con Dao is a quiet island and tourism is not well established, because of this the prices at the hotel for food and alcohol was fairly expensive compared to local restaurants.

The secret was a very aesthetic hotel with lots of facilities available. The staff were friendly, provided free water refills and the views from the hotel were amazing. The room was spacious and comfortable. The secret was a great hotel located on the main island. This provided us a sense of luxury while being able to explore the local area.

When booking, this hotel takes full payment up front. I had to ask hotel for full payment receipt to be emailed to me, as booking.com did not update payment details within the app etc. On arrival to Con Dao, the hotel bus transfer service is a little annoying, with only going at set times. Meaning, you have to wait at airport both ways depending on your flight choice. Best tip to get the hotel to send bus transfer times through prior to booking flights so you don't have to sit in the bus at airport on arrival or pay for taxi/grab transfer. This hotel is also the only hotel that we experienced in Vitenam, to take a room security deposit (refunded on check out) when you check in, of 2Million VND, which I found odd and not communicated on booking our room. We would have bought more cash to island if we knew this. The hotel say it is for any 'room charges' you may have within your stay. Booking.com 'no hidden fees' do not work in Vietnam as most hotels charge 3-4% on cc payments when paying for rooms on checkin/checkout. Pay in cash if you can to avoid fees.

This hotel is in a great location, walking distance to some good resturants and local beaches. The pool is amazing, but water a little hot when you need to feel refreshed after being in sticky heat! Our room was spacious and the large balcony used early mornings and when the heat less intense. The service twice a day from cleaning crew was exceptional, if not a little over the top for an 'eco island'. Breakfast was good, with a variety of options available. We especially loved the huge range of pastries. Con Dao is a slow island compared to other mainland parts of Vietman, so it was just gorgeous to relax by the pool, rest and look at the beach and surrounding islands. You can book tours at hotel, but we did this independantly. Staff supported us in renting motor scooters for a day to explore the island which is highly recommended. Booking.com communication was generally very good with quick replies to any questions etc. Overall, an enjoyable stay. Thank you.

Almost perfect, but there were some issues with house keeping. Once there were no towels anymore, and one time they skipped cleaning altogether.

We booked a city view room with a balcony & expected there would be furniture on the balcony. We knew it wouldn’t be an amazing view but the building opposite was very close, that we had no privacy.

Very much liked the swimming pool & the position of the hotel It was good to be able to sit outside for breakfast. All of the restaurant staff were very good. It was our Golden Wedding Anniversary & our bed was decorated with rose petals & we were given, fruit, chocolates & wonderful cakes which were much appreciated

The staff were lovely and friendly but most of the front desk staff don’t speak English which did make things tricky at times. Also, they add a service charge onto the bill when you eat in the restaurant and we found out this service charge unfortunately doesn’t actually go direct to the staff which we were disappointed about. We did try to challenge it so we could tip our waiter directly so they got the money but they didn’t take it off the bill (I think this was because of the language barrier)

We really enjoyed our stay at The Secret Con Dao - it’s a clean and modern hotel, exactly as described in the pictures. You can hire scooters for 24 hours to get around the island for a small cost, which is great. The pool area was always very quiet and calm.
