How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

This is not a real 4 star hotel. You need a motorbike to go everywhere except the city center. Far from the beach (dispite sea view). Poor qualité of the restaurant (photos far from reality). Decoration passable and dirty. Non professionnal managers (difficulties with english). After 2 days, we finally meet the general manager who, after a real negociation, consent a compensation.

Verified reviewWe took a decision to firstly visit the islands on a bigger trip and then to stay on one of the higher end hotels. Everything about the hotel delivered in terms of quality, location to the centre, and service. Views from our room balcony, the pool and the Sunset Lounge bar were spectacular.
It was one of those things potentially but there was a corporate event that did spoil our first couple of days. Whilst the hotel did compensate us a bit in the end, it was hard work and not quite the outcome we had understood to be agreed. I would hope this is rare, I’m sure it is, and it doesn’t take anything away from how good the hotel is. Perhaps in low season they understandably want to maximise revenue but they could have been more transparent at the start before taking full payment which complicated things given their relationship with Bookjng.com. On booking future travellers could just ask for transparency if this is a concern.

Verified reviewThis is one of the better large hotels for sure. Really helpful and friendly staff, clean facilities and comfortable spacious bedrooms, good on-site food and breakfast buffet. Big pool!
It can be a little noisy depending on who stays next to you and around the pool, but the hotel team will do their best to accommodate any requests. For example, when the hotel was less full they agreed to move me to a different room in a quieter area of the property which was much appreciated.

Verified reviewThe hotel is in a convenient location with a free shuttle bus service, which was very helpful. The staff were generally polite and tried to assist when asked.
Unfortunately, the overall experience didn’t meet our expectations for the price. The walls were very thin, so we could hear everything from neighboring rooms and the hallway, especially at night. The pool was dirty and full of leaves throughout our stay, and the check-in process was chaotic and disorganized. In the evening, the reception area was crowded with people sitting or lying around like it was a village gathering, which made it feel uncomfortable and unprofessional. The air conditioning barely worked, and you had to ask the receptionist to adjust the temperature manually. There was no drying rack for wet clothes, and although we booked a room with a balcony, there was no chair or table to enjoy it. Breakfast was another letdown—though it officially runs until 10:00, by 9:00 most food options were empty, and it took at least 15 minutes for them to be replenished. My husband even had to ask the staff to fix the coffee machine, which wasn’t working while staff were just standing around chatting. Conclusion: While the hotel has potential with its good location and helpful staff, the overall experience didn’t quite match our expectations for the price. With better management and attention to detail, it could offer a much more pleasant and comfortable stay.

Verified reviewThe secret was a very aesthetic hotel with lots of facilities available. The staff were friendly, provided free water refills and the views from the hotel were amazing. The room was spacious and comfortable. The secret was a great hotel located on the main island. This provided us a sense of luxury while being able to explore the local area.
Con Dao is a quiet island and tourism is not well established, because of this the prices at the hotel for food and alcohol was fairly expensive compared to local restaurants.
