Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

AustraliaI found photos and descriptions a bit confusing when booking. The only negative re the accommodation for us was that the loft bedroom in the ‘boathouse’ wasn’t really ideal.
When we arrived, my wife couldn’t stop saying ‘WOW’!! We were greeted by the ever delightful Sylvie who couldn’t help us enough…. She’s a treasure! The place was spotless, the gardens immaculate and Sylvie had even put some basic supplies in the refrigerator for us. Peter, the gardener was also very helpful and always willing to have a chat and give us the local rundown. And provide reef shoes and snorkeling gear if we needed them. The location is hard to beat with good snorkeling immediately off the beach out front. Kayaks were there to use as well as beachfront hammocks. Would definitely go again… maybe longer next time.

AustraliaBecause of the no windows it was quite loud at night with the dogs, chickens, people in the other villas and sounds from the village. The hot water in the shower was very temperamental and was either really hot or really cold and not in between.
Wonderful location, staff, and cleanliness. The kayaks and paddle boards were great to use and the snorkelling out the front was fabulous. We loved the team who made us feel very welcome!

AustraliaThe bathroom and kitchen could have been cleaner. I mentioned this to the manager after we left, and they were very quick to respond and assured me that they had immediately fixed that issue, so that it would be cleaner ongoing for future guests.
We absolutely loved our stay at Whispering Palms Villa! We had a hire car for the duration of our trip, which made it really easy to explore the surrounding area and take day trips to nearby spots like Top Rock — amazing snorkelling and beautiful views! It’s also a great base for visiting the gorgeous neighbouring islands, such as Moso Island and Pele Island. The villa itself is in a stunning location and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay — books to read, games to play, plus kayaks and a stand-up paddleboard to enjoy the water right out front. The on-site staff were so welcoming and friendly, which really added to the whole Whispering Palms experience. We cooked our own meals for the three nights we stayed. My husband did a fishing trip from Havanah Harbour and caught a big tuna, so we had fresh tuna for dinner for two nights, and we stocked up on other supplies at the supermarket in Port Vila beforehand. We stayed half of our trip in port Villa, and half at Whispering Palms, which suited us perfectly to explore and experience as much of beautiful Efate island as possible. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to unwind and experience the beauty of Vanuatu. Highly recommend!

PolandAbsolutely Amazing place, stay and staff! It is hard to say what was fantastic, because all was such. We did not even imagine that it could be so beautiful. The resort is located away from the hustle and bustle, looks beautiful and is very comfortable. We stayed in Villa de Lux, which was perfectly equipped and in addition with branded equipment. A nice, small "welcome pack" was waiting for us and the view of the Ocean and the Coral Reef is unforgettable. Mornings at sunrise were amazing.

ArgentinaOne suggestion would be to replace the two connected mattresses with a single king-sized mattress. Also, it would be great if they could provide more than just a single pack of coffee, as that’s only enough for half a cup. Make sure to bring enough coffee for the morning, along with tea and toilet paper, before you arrive. Other than that, the rest of the property is perfect!
Whispering Palms is an amazing place to stay. My partner and I had a very nice experience at this place. Just note that it can be windy on most days—4 out of the 6 days we stayed there were windy. However, it didn’t bother us much due to the warm temperatures. At night, the wind tends to die down a bit, and the skies are clear and spectacular. The host is very friendly, always ready to answer any questions, and available to help at any time. I texted him a few times and he replied almost immediately. The caregivers are amazing too—Peter and Silvy are wonderful people and super friendly. We were even given fresh fruit and had some really nice conversations with them. He also will send a helpul PDF pack with all the information you need to know. You must have a car to get to this location on the island. CASH is essential. In Port Vila, you’ll find plenty of ATMs to withdraw cash. Fees are typically around 750 VUV per transaction. I used an ANZ ATM and didn’t get charged for withdrawing money. The views from the property are stunning, and there are numerous activities nearby—another reason why having a car is a must. Supermarkets are located near Port Vila, but there are also small shops just meters from the accommodation for basic needs. Don't be too disappointed by the wind (we were at first). A short drive can take you to a perfect spot for snorkeling or other beach activities where there’s no wind at all. The people in Vanuatu are incredibly kind and cheerful. They’ll always greet you with a smile anytime they see you. Some beaches charge a small fee—anywhere from 500 VUV to 1500 VUV—depending on the location. Arthur, the contact person for rides and activity planning, is also very friendly. He organized a private beach experience for us in Pele Island, including return boat and meals, for just 10000 VUV. The views over that island are absolutely spectacular.

AustraliaThe boat house was fabulous, perfect for me as a single traveler & would have been romantic if my partner was able to join me on this trip. It is private but not secluded, which nice for me as I enjoyed meeting the friendly locals & staff. I received the compendium online, however I found the staff to be more helpful. *The only thing that would have made my food experience easier is if there was a Menu available in the room, of local foods to request delivered with a price guide & locally prepared meals available to order as well ask suggestions of what it's ok to ask staff for such as local massage, nite fishing, spear fishing, kayak tours, snorkelling tours, cave touring & local trekking around Undine Bay. *Peter the local grounds man, speaks good English, very friendly & harmless, helped me set Aerial Hammock in a tree so I could practice, hailed the local bus to town, brought me fresh coconuts daily he also gave me an island massage which was different, more therapeutic & reliving than relaxing, got the kink out of my neck, all for by donation. * the beautiful the manager Silvi, is an inspiration, her warm welcome on arrival made me feel very at home, she helped me with the Kayak & invited me to share Sunday lunch with her family & friends, which was a highlight of my stay. The island food I tried was delicious & I felt very at home & welcomed. The local kava hut called a Nukamal, run by Billy, Silvi's son, is a great place to enjoy drinking kava with locals, most people spoke English with me & I felt comfortable to toktok Bislama (local language) small small. I encourage any one visiting Vanuatu to try the local food, try the kava & have a go speaking the local language as well, it fun & will make all the difference to your adventure in paradise.

GermanyAbsolute superb place on the north coast of Efate. We tend to beat the crowds or go a bit of grid when traveling. So Whispering Palms just was the perfect place for us - staying in a beautiful accommodation, right on the edge to the ocean with pristine views made our day(s). Hermit crabs, riffs just of the beach and lots to explore when opening your eyes. Local staff like Peter and Silvie just adds absolute value. Could have stayed longer.

SlovakiaExcellent location right in front of the beach. The locals were really friendly. Amazing snorkelling spot, crystal clear and calm water, so you can just explore the coral reef from the kayak. Lots of turtles and fish. It's a quiet place with amazing views far away from busy Port Vila. The property comes with a fully equipped kitchen so we could prepare our own meals.

United KingdomIt would have been helpful to understand the public transport system beforehand or arrange transfer. That's on me though. I ended up hiring a car which was super useful when I visited because so many things are closed until June 2025 in the area. Complimentary shower gel or would have been handy. But generally I was most sad that I didn't get to spend more time there.
I don't think the pictures really did the property justice. Also, I was confused about how close all the properties were. There are 3 buildings, they are all detached from one another you just share a beach, but the beach is public anyway - people from the village and neighbouring properties walk past etc This side of the island is much quieter and people are more friendly and it's just a better vibe than Port Vila. I was sent a lot of info from the owner before my arrival and there was a handy guide about local things to do. One of the better wifi spots - it covers all 3 buildings down to the beach pretty much which was handy. There was selection of snorkels, shoes and flippers, paddleboard and kayaks. Loads of towels. The place just had a lot of bits and bobs around to make a trip more comfortable. So I was just able to relax. Views of sunrise and moonrise were just spectacular. Dolphins and horses pass by most days. Coral reef at the doorstep. It's just heavenly. If I ever return to Efate, this will be my go to accomodation.

AustraliaThe snorkelling masks provided are getting pretty old and tired. Fins however are fine. Bring your own mask ( I was glad I did) if you take your snorkelling seriously :) A simple map with the different recommended shops/ places to visit marked would be a really helpful addition to the house.
Absolutely beautiful "non-resort" way to see Vanuatu. Snorkelling off the beach is such a delight. Great staff and very helpful. Lovely peaceful location. We had a hire car but note there is option to have transport arranged there & back (40 min to Vila). There are only small villages nearby but these are fine to buy basics. We bought a lot of fruit from roadside stalls. We really like Top Rock (10min away) for snorkelling & simple lunch. Just be aware that there are large sections of the main road that are severely affected by potholes, particularly in and around Vila. Still driveable, but good to know. See photo below as an example! It was a wonderful week.
