Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandThe Matai fale is very expensive - I didn't realize I had booked it. It's almost too big!! The lighting is poor. The food and drink are expensive. We went on a snorkelling tour with Neil, who is lovely and knowledgeable, but expensive. There is little entertainment available.
The resort is picturesque. We stayed in the Matai fale which is lovely. The staff are lovely, and the resort is well maintained and clean. The continental breakfast is fine.

AustraliaWe travel a lot, so notice small but subtle things. In a 4.5* rated resort, you should be able to have fruit AND fruit juice for breakfast as part of the deal. We had been given two separate continental breakfast menu sheets, the latter had been altered to say fruit OR juice. Also, the same offer of a plate of toast or a croissant, a banana muffin and small slithers of fruit every morning of our stay doesn't really constitute a true continental 4.5* breakfast. This, plus a lacking supply of toiletries in an expensive room, seemed like ways to cut overheads to us .. having said all this, the complimentary cocktail upon arrival was a lovely gesture. Thank you.
The location and outdoor experience with spectacular views, comfortable outdoor/pool furniture, private beach and the relaxed environment were wonderful. The bed was so comfortable and shower so refreshing. The staff were so welcoming, friendly and always happy to assist. The dinner we had there was delicious and wonderfully served, and we thoroughly enjoyed the Fira show. Thank you.

AustraliaAccommodation was paid in full 5 months prior to stay only to find out that I had to pay more at check out due to currency chances. This was American owned greed. Having to pay $77 US per night for a child to stay in our room when there was no bed and only a sofa was discussing. This should have been free like other places in the world. Room housekeeping couldn’t get the basics right by forgetting to give us bath towels and toilet paper. No kids club so nothing for kids to do but swim as there is no TV.
Great place to relax and do nothing if that’s what you’re looking for.

FijiThey charged us an extra person for a 16 month old baby, but they didn't give her the complementary breakfast so I don't understand why we were charged but never received the attention that a regular guest usually receives. The lunch menu could be improved, everything they are offering is fast food and some of the options we tried (pasta salad) were really not good. The Spa was simply okay, I don't recommend the pedicure it is not worthy to pay for it.
It is a nice resort, very clean and the rooms (we stayed at the tree house) were very comfortable. We snorkelled several times from the shore and always saw 3 to 4 turtles. The fire show on Saturday was amazing and dinner was very nice.

New ZealandBrian, who manages the hotel, is perhaps the rudest, most unpleasant person I have met in hospitality. We are well travelled and have never met someone so unsuited to guest contact. Brian’s tantrum when we refused to move rooms, after moving rooms already because of a broken aircon, is beyond words. We spent the first night (of five nights) without aircon in heat so stifling that we lay sweating all night. Julie, who was helpful and endeavoured to sort this out, arranged a different room for us (thanks Julie), but Brian was unhappy with this and asked us to move out of the room, on New Year’s Day no less. When I refused to move again, he tantrumed and huffed in a manner reminiscent of a child not getting their own way. He also, upon check in, suggested we carry rocks and a stick to beat village dogs when we go for a walk, which left us aghast at such brazen suggestions of cruelty (we are both vegetarian and animal lovers). On our last night, a rather large rat kept us awake as it rustled through the rubbish bins in the room. Several attempts to usher the rat out at 1am and 2am and 3am proved unsuccessful. Some closer and thorough cleaning of rooms is needed; we found plasters on the floor of the room, along with other random bits of rubbish that had not been picked up by the cleaners prior to us occupying the room.
The staff at this resort were excellent, with the exception of Brian (see more below); staff were courteous, helpful, eager to help, and lovely. We stayed in a fale over the water, which was fabulous as an experience. We found the resort food edible and pleasant, with a setting that made for an even better experience for dinner and other meals. Julie and the reception staff were amazing and helpful; they deserve a special mention, as do many of the staff in the restaurant for whom nothing was too much effort.

United KingdomSome of the facilities were closed e.g. pool bar. Breakfast was subpar. No indoor entertainment - would have been nice to have a covered are with a pool table/table tennis etc as some days the weather wasn't great.
Great welcome with complementary drinks, beautiful grounds, proximity to the beach. Location near other resorts was nice as it gave us lots of options for evening meals.

New ZealandThe beds, while comfortable, are on the firm side. Just something to be aware of. Apart from that no real complaints.
The breakfast included was delicious with fresh fruit every morning and a choice of cereal, toast, or croissant. The location is amazing on a beautiful white sand beach within a sheltered lagoon. The tree house rooms are spacious and loved being surrounded by trees and looking out over the pond when it rained, it made even the bad weather enjoyable! The staff were amazing. All very friendly and helpful. The cultural experience and fiafia night was the cherry on top of a great, relaxing week away. Also make sure you go for a walk in the village. It was great to see real life and the locals were all friendly.

AustraliaThere is nowhere else to eat apart from the resort unless you have a car. It was an expensive stay, but then we did go for an overwater bungalow. Our booking included breakfast, but we only found out when checking out that this was specifically a continental breakfast which would not be the right choice of breakfast in this beautiful place. If you are booking the best/most expensive room in the place it seems reasonable that it should include the breakfast of your choice. That said - we loved our stay.
The over water bungalow was spectacular. One of the best and certainly most spacious hotel rooms I've ever stayed in anywhere in the world. The restaurant was great - delicious food, brilliant cocktail menu and great service. The staff were really friendly. Hard to fault Coconuts Beach Club and Resort. If we ever return to Samoa we would definitely stay here again. I loved that there were no jet skis or banana boats. So peaceful, so relaxing.
