Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NorwayWe traveled around Samoa and stayed at 5 different hotels. No one could compare to the David Parker Ego Lodge Hotel, neither in terms of cleanliness, location, or service. There was a unique atmosphere there that you rarely get to experience. For me, who arrived by sea, it was a true releif to stay up in the mountain side where it felt cooler, away from the hustle and bustle, close to nature. We swam in a lovely cool waterfall that was located just below the hotel. The hotel's two lovely dogs showed us the way. It was incredibly nice. Each room had a balcony with the most beautiful view over a lush valley, and out ower the island to the sea. The rooms were simply furnished, and had a small kitchen. No one can compare to Lolita who runs the place. She is amazing. We felt really well looked after. She took such good care of all the guests, each and every one of us. What a loving fellow human being. We quickly felt at home, and chose to come back here many times during our stay, to treat ourselves to that little extra. They serve good food on the shared terrace, with the most beautiful view from morning to evening. In the evenings we could hear the geckos and crickets, and admire the fruit bats down in the valley as darkness took over the landscape. And it was absolutely fantastic to start the day there, with a good cup of coffee/tea and optional breakfast, while looking out over a valley waking up. The birds swayed on the buoyancy down there and it felt like flying with them. Very calming. It was optional to have the food served in the room or on the terrace, and we chose the terrace every time. Quiet and pleasant atmosphere. On the area there was sweet birds that looked like a Kiwi bird walking around on an extremely well-kept property. I thought there must be a lot of gardeners working here, but I never saw them. Eggs, pancakes or smoothie for breakfast, all with home-grown fruit.

New ZealandMaybe some wooden deck chairs out on the lawn , near the pool would’ve added more relaxation, and sun tanning . Possibly too , to have been able to purchase, some insect repellant for yourself. and fly spray or mosquito coils for your room , or even some natural product to use . A toaster in your room . And a small bowl or two would have been handy to use in your micro wave .
The food was great, the staff were wonderful ( friendly , courteous and helpful. The daily Van ride into Apia was most appreciated . The peace n quiet was wonderful

AustraliaNeighbours smoking on shared balcony with smoke wafting into the rooms during the night. Not really sure how to resolve this. Perhaps a smoke free balcony but have a designated smoking area. Not sure but this is the only negative thing I can say. Thank you!
Great host! Rooms were great! The view was Amazing. It was just so peaceful. Such a chill place! I would love to come back and just admire the amazing view from the room and from the balcony in front of the room!

AustraliaBugs everywhere and inside the room: You need bug spray to be prepared. Because you'll be in the middle of nowhere. Drive way: Going into the driveway is a little scary at night. Narrow and steep. It takes about 3-4 minutes to drive up to reception. We recommend checking in during the day first. Make sure you have a strong car. Lol. Umu on Sundays: Okay, not the best. It was cold, and quality wasn’t the best for its value. However, I appreciate the cultural embrace. Water pressure: Not the best, very weak! Drinking Water: Not available, you will need to come prepared. There is a 10-15 minute drive to the nearest shop.
I love the view - absolutely beautiful. Room: We booked the one bedroom apartment with a private balcony room 18! Beautiful with everything you need. Kitchenette, tables and chairs, separate bathroom. Garden: absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. Food: Let's say breakfast is the best!!! Only $15 tala. It's worth the money. Customer service: Amazing owners and staff, very interactive and professional. Entertainment: Pool table, table tennis and pool were great! Free entry! Water: Hot water is available great! We stayed for 3 nights - we will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend this beautiful hidden gem.

CanadaTricky without a car, but they do have an 8:30 return 3:30 free shuttle everyday save Sunday. Walking around the mountains up there is beautiful, but beware territorial farm dogs that can attack.
Gorgeous views, very responsive, able to book online (beware many other properties’ listings online as ghost listings that they don’t honour), kind staff. Good cake.

AustraliaThe view was amazing - as other reviews had said. I loved watching the sunset and lights come on in Apia. The room was a good size. Bar fridge, microwave, sink and kitchenware were really useful. Enjoyed our fish meals for dinner. Enjoyed the games room and swimming pool. The walk down to the waterfall (really a waterhole since the waterfall is not high) was fun too. Great ambience. Very convenient to get picked up as part of their Mon-Friday shuttle. Transport to airport was also arranged by Lolita. A great experience. Thanks to all the staff. It was also a lovely place to meet new people and hear their stories.

United KingdomOff the beaten track hotel in a spectacular location with an incredible view. Lolita was friendly, chatty and helpful during my whole stay. The room had AC but I never actually used it. Food was good and they were able to manipulate dishes to suit my dietary requirements. Could not recommend this place enough!

New ZealandDave Parker was an awesome stay for us! Such friendly and welcoming staff. The hotel is a family owned hotel and the host there is such a darl, honestly. We paid roughly around $430 nzd for 6 nights, such a deal! and our room ? it comes with the basic needs like a fridge, kettle, sink, hot water, towels/face towels, microwave, air con and a tv. Everything from when we checked in to when we checked out was a smooth easy process. And their deal for $15 tala for 3 hours of wifi was also a steal. Also, don’t even get me started on the incredible views during sunrise, you guys must go and see. Our accommodation here at Dave Parker was one of the reasons why our trip here in Samoa, Apia, was a memorable trip for me & my sister. Much thanks to Lolita, the family + the friendly staff for making us feel at home during our stay.

United KingdomI would recommend anyone coming here uses a hire car for more freedom, but they do offer daily shuttles to Apia (except Sundays). Room did not have air con but was perfectly fine with the use of a fan
A real alternative place to stay, a bit old fashioned in the room decor but massively out weighed by how friendly staff were - big thanks for sorting a SIM card for me! Lots of books and beautiful views over Apia, it felt like a small retreat

MalaysiaThere was nothing that we dislike. We love everything. Only a constructive comment here - The breakfast was enjoyable, and the coffee was excellent. However, expanding the menu with more variety could further enhance the dining experience for long staying guests.
Our stay at Dave Parker Eco Lodge was truly delightful. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed by Malama and Sasi, whose hospitality made a great first impression for an air-conditioned room at a minimal additional fee, Lolita, the owner’s daughter, went above and beyond by upgrading us to a larger space—a thoughtful gesture that added to our comfort. The lodge’s stunning landscape and breathtaking views at both dawn and sunset made our stay even more memorable. Relaxing on our verandah while taking in the scenery was an absolute highlight. Overall, we highly recommend Dave Parker Eco Lodge for its exceptional service and beautiful setting. A big thank you to Lolita, Malama, and Sasi for making our stay special—we truly appreciate their kindness and dedication.

GermanyMy room was very basic and small, and only with a van. It didn´t meet my expectations, unfortunately there was no upgrade possible, due to the general booking situation. There are indeed beautiful rooms with only a decent surcharge. If I only have should it known earlier. My experience with the laundry service (which is not inhouse) was unfortunately bad. Some of my clothes were lost and couldn´t be found. Lolita gave me two new T-Shirts from their shop. This was a nice gesture which I appreciated. But I am still sad about the loss Communication with some of the staff was sometimes not easy and to much dependent of their current mood
It´s really a Million Dollar View ! Beautiful location ! Lolita and Malama are indeed very friendly and helpful hosts in every situation. Thank you very much for all your assistance and help! The prices for Breakfast/Dinner/Wine/Beer etc. are really reasonable and fair. The food offered is delicious. The open terrace is just a wonderful place to relax, to dine and to get in contact with other travellers I had a rental car, so I enjoyed my freedom to come and go as I want

New ZealandWe were blown away by the view and wildlife watching when we first arrived. The food was excellent - just as good, if not better than other restaurants we visited in Samoa. The staff were friendly and helpful with so much advice. If you come to Samoa for the wildlife, Dave Parker's is a required stay to build up your bird list. Very relaxing to just chill on our room's balcony and watch the birds fly in or past. We really enjoyed watching the tropicbirds & flying foxes soaring over the valley below.
